Speed of fire

Sunday mornings are meant to be easy right? One day. I am looking forward to having those 'breakfast together' kind of Sunday mornings where we can just chill out and no one has to rush off to study or squeeze an hour or two to cram some work into it.

I love spending the weekends with our daughter but family time would be nice also and, the luxury of family time without one our more of us being sick or sleep deprived would be welcomed. First world problems.

While our life is what is considered insane by some of our friends, it is likely only seen that way because of experience and culture. In another environment, it might be normal or even a very easy life. Afterall, we have food, shelter and relative security. We don't face war or persecution and there is healthcare and for the moment, some social safety nets if we get into a very bad position.

Whilst not many locally would want to trade lives with me, many globally probably wouldn't mind the relative comfort at all. It is impossible to truly put ourselves in another's shoes, empathy is a very limited feeling.

I asked last night what would change if you woke up to 20 dollar Steem and for me, a great deal. From a vote perspective that would mean each vote of mine would be ~50 dollars worth of Steem. While not much for some, that is a months salary for another, depending on location.

For us personally, it would be life changing for my family as it would lift the continual pressure to chase dollars and run from debt. Even if all it did was to significantly ease the situation, I would be grateful.

Do you remember when Steem was rising to 7 dollars? What was the feel on the platform, how many complained about what Stinc or the witnesses were doing? It changed pretty fast on the drop down though and people gave up in a huff at 3 dollars, even though it was 300% higher than it had been 4 or 5 months earlier.

Expectation, entitlement and comfort set in fast and as discomfort seeps in, it is felt earlier and earlier. It is kind of like a floor price, the new normal. Those that were here at 7 cent Steem might not mind 27 cent Steem so much but 27 cents seems like a bad deal in comparison to 7 dollars. It is all about experience and timing though isn't it?

If one bought in at 7 cents and held the entire time, they would still be 400% up in less than 2 years. How many traditional investments can say the same? 2 years from now it could be that Steem is sitting at a low of 1 dollar after reaching 25. Those that held would be up 400% again. Even though massive gains were missed, 400% is not bad considering many aim for 10-15% a year in stocks.

Who knows if it will ever reach 25 dollar Steem but the potential is definitely there considering the movements of banks, institutional investors and a society that is digitizing their lives more and more in a myriad ways. Remember that while we are accustomed to seeing Steem as a social media, it can be much more than that as it is only a content delivery infrastructure, the media itself doesn't matter.

There is a core here now that wasn't here a year ago and they are active and growing stronger. Each rise and fall sees more gather into a foundation and line layers of shale, they will become increasingly thick bedrock that stabilizes and becomes the floor.

Things can move very fast once the burn starts, adoption can catalyze quickly. The people coming in will never likely know of these current days of drama as their view will not have the memory of experience. They might even wish they were here now, not knowing what here now really means, just wishing that they could have bought in lower or, built their account sooner.

I wonder how many in two years from now will have an easier Sunday because of Steem. I hope I am one of those. One thing that is a good idea to carry with on the journey is, never get too comfortable with the conditions of the ups or the downs, stay adaptive. All things change.

In order to reach 25 dollars per Steem price, our user base has to be very massive. In order build a massive user base, first of all the existing users have to share the enthusiasm and curiosity about this blockchain which will naturally be example to outsiders.

But for this to happen, we need to make sure newbies are welcomed and they should feel that they can succeed on Steem, not only people who bought it at 7 cents or the inner group who got crazy 100 percent inflation while probably not spending anything at all. So onboarding process must be facilitated but also engagement must be greatly increased. The best way to achieve that is through belonging to a community.

Contests and games with rewards activates engagement greatly but even belonging to a community around just one blogger can be very powerful. It all comes down to looking forward to the next post of a specific author or a comment. Almost like if a person stops posting or commenting for a day or two, we would reach out and ask, "Are you OK?"

I have a few people like that in my circle. The goal of course for all of us is to have more.

So in order for the Steem price to rise to 25 dollars in a sense we all have to be missed here if we don't show up.

How to achieve that?

Simple, but not easy - one genuine interaction at a time.

And yes, it takes 7 years to have an overnight success.

But for this to happen, we need to make sure newbies are welcomed and they should feel that they can succeed on Steem,

I am hoping that @Steemonboarding is going to help a bit with this by getting them up and running and finding communities.

This is a good way of looking at it, I like it.

and, yes. =)

(It might take me a little longer to get to some comments, bear with me for awhile)

More importantly is that we get to enjoy the journey as we wait for those days to arrive!

I wonder what other people are doing in the bear market.. my next post? =)

If steem(it), and its social media side are not important in the scheme of things, are we not just another crypto, among...(150?)

Is there something unique with steemit (apart from the social media side )?

My knowledge of crypto has grown immensely since I joined steemit (not. lol)

The social part is just one aspect of Steem, it can be more and support more as it is a content delivery infrastructure. So, it can hold Facebook, a news site and VR gaming with various capabilities intertwined or left out as the usage requires.

You have earned and sold some crypto? That is good enough knowledge and more than most in this world know.

You have earned and sold some crypto

...all accident, no design...

Not your design maybe, but someone's worked ;)

A very refreshing thought

Me too. I think I am working harder on Steemit than I ever did in the almost 1 year I've been here. Rooting for the bountiful fire to start

It could possibly be many thousands of people who benefit a lot.

Can't complain about the ease of my Sunday, it's not my first choice though.

I wish that you have more freedom in Sundays to come :)

We ended up cleaning =)

Do you remember when Steem was rising to 7 dollars?

A whole Epiphany. Isn't it? ;)

By the way, aren't you today celebrating loppiainen holiday over there in your place?

Yes. It is Loppiainen so we have taken down the tree and cleaned after Christmas. The wife is off studying. There wasn't a great deal of Epiphany involved. :)

Really? there wasn't much Epiphany involved at all?

Well, however I suspect some 'Nollaig na mBan' must have hit you today despite you are australian and not irish. LoL
