Important Things – Psalm 119:10-11
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Do we seek Him with all your heart? Do we hide His word in our heart? How do we hide His word in our heart anyway? I mean, think about it. How do we apply something like this? Actually, we hide His Word in our heart by memorizing it. That’s right. Memorizing it. But that’s too hard right? I mean, that’s a lot to memorize. But is it?
How many songs do we have memorized? Think about it. You can hear a song from years ago and without even trying, the next thing you know, you’re singing it word for word. Surely I’m not the only one this has happened to.
There’s a lot of things, useless things, we have memorized. Things we have spent time in over and over not even realizing it. If we do that with useless things, What should we be doing with the important things?

I see hiding the word in our hearts as more than memorization. I see it as familiarizing biblical concepts and experiencing the "as it is written" moments while reading or discussing the word of God.
Also when tempted to sin, the word leaps out from our hearts and reminds us that we are transgressing that we have a chance to repent and not sin.

Howdy sir simms50! I agree, we need to keep on fueling our spirits with the Word and it's hard to do that away from the Book if we don't memorize!
Agreed...and I also can admit that I don't have much memorized. Something I need to work on!
