Part of my job entails travelling back and forth within the country and many times I stay in different hotels for a few nights. This is work and I am well aware of the fact that one can see a different setting when you visit a place for leisure purposes... but still... for many years I have strongly believed that I have seen everything and noone can surprise me in the catering business...

Well, this was true until now... A couple of days ago we have spent a few days in a really amazing place. It is hard to find the proper adjectives to describe it, because PERFECT seems so pale... I can strongly suggest that this is THE BEST hotel I have ever visited. ❤️ Let me be your guide and share my experiences with you...

Basic details

The name of this wonderful place is Mala Garden and it is situated on the Southern Coast of Lake Balaton, just an hour drive away from our capital, Budapest.

The hotel itself is not very big (I would say that it has a perfect size for someone visiting it), it has 21 rooms in two buildings with different categories (including a breath-taking 130-square-meter penthouse apartman with 3 bedrooms and an enourmous terrace on the top floor). All rooms and the entire enterieur of the hotel is more than convenient, equipped with all luxuries that you need. The owner and the interior designer paid attention to all little details and incorporated top quality appliances and materials all over the place.

The hotel has been built in an elegant oriental style and has a superb restaurant, a friendly coffee house, a panoramic wellness section, a convenient conference room as well as an indulging massage department offering traditional Thai massage.

First impressions

I made our booking months before as I wanted to surprise my sweetheart for his birthday with this visit. Firstly it was unusual how "communicative" the staff was. I have received four different calls from the reception:

• first they were apologizing because of a construction on the neighbouring plot and offered a change in dates and when I insisted to stay on the dates we originally booked, they gave us a discount 😊,
• then they offered a wine-tasting programme,
• then they called us to inquire if we wanted to switch to a room in the main building (that was closer to the wellness section)
• and finally on the day of arrival they were asking when we would arrive, when can they reserve our parking place...😊😊😊). How sweet!

We have arrived and the receptionist lady greeted us with a wonderful smile. She offered a convenient sofa to sit down and brought us a welcome-drink while we were filling in the check-in documentation. We have also received a kind invitation to the coffee house (we were given a coupon for a free drink and a free cake per person). 🙏🏻

The room

After checking-in we were guided to our room, where we the receptionist gave us a quick overview of the features and services available. The room was as awesome as the other parts of the building. Attention to all tiny little details and all sorts of comfort that you can imagine... All designed in a unique Balinese style (we were told that many of the carpets and furniture as well as the decorative stones on the pavements and in the bathrooms were actually taken from Bali). It was great fun after arrival to discover everything we had in the room... 😊

We had a Nespresso coffee machine with two mugs, different capsules, coffee creamers, a selection of fine teas and honey in the room as well as a gift-bottle of mineral water and some free snacks 😁.

There was a smartphone in the room to allow completely free calls and internet usage as well as a very handy guidance around the little town during our stay. We could take it with us and use without a charge. And as a little surprise, somefine desserts were hidden in between the cushions of the bed. 😊

Even the spare toilet paper and the hairdryer had a nice cover... - all details are finely worked out!😎
