I found this posted on Reddit....It is amazing how some people simply are clueless about the future.

Many people think Abundance will arrive and the poor of the future will live better than today's billionaires.

I disagree with it, because of something called bifurcation.

The amount of 'good' things are limited. Good neighborhoods, good schools, etc are all limited and open to only the select few.

And, the owners of good things will want exclusivity, since they don't want everyone to enjoy their lifestyle.

So, what will happen is massive increase of rent, property taxes, registration fees, insurance, and other intangibles which no amount of abundance will be able to help.

The prices for such stuff will rise as abundance becomes the norm. It will be useless to have all these gadgets when you are stuck in a chicken cage like the poorer people of Hong Kong .

In short, price out those who won't make a lot of money because they don't make high wages or do not own properties which bring them sizable income.

It might not be fair or just, but it is the way it is.

The landowners and capital owners are not going to cut into their profits 'to help people'. They will collect the last penny from the hapless renters, and those who can't pay will - be cast out. Sorry.

With very few good high-paying jobs, and most people having to endure 19th century standard of working conditions and workers' laws because there is no need to treat workers well any more (except, of course, those directly related to the Future),

they will be paying sky-high prices just to cover their basic needs. Many people will fall out, and the owners of capital will not give a crap as Singularity, Space Travel and other great things are just ahead of them.

Same thing as what happened during the Industrial Revolution, during which the standard of living actually FELL. At that time there were colonies to dump excess pop so the pain was relieved somewhat, but since there is nowhere to go for billions of unnecessariats now, they will probably go the way of Neanderthals or the Hobbits (which continued to exist in what is Indonesia till about 1,000 years ago until the Malays eliminated them).

I really do not know where to start with this drivel other than to state that some of his assertions are factually incorrect. Depending upon the timer period looked at, since the Industrial Revolution spanned decades, yes there was a period in there where the standard of living crashed. This period is known as the Great Depression which was the result of a credit induced bubble (sound familiar), not shifts in the economy due a changing workplace.

The simple truth is that the world advanced greatly in the last 30 years. World wide, poverty rates went from about 20% to 21%; literacy rates jumped; pregnancy rates dropped; infantile deaths plummeted. We saw the greatest advancement technologically with the Internet which changed communication and commerce. Right behind that, the mobility movement started to lift many poorer nations since they are now tapped into the world's knowledge base.

When we look forward, many still want to cast a negative light on things. What will take place is simply a continuing trend. Since many believe the MSM and buy into the garbage that things are getting worse, they carry this mindset forward. We see many technologies coming online that are radically altering the human experience. Blockchain, as an example, will allow millions to profit off the content they create while drastically cutting the costs of transactions. This is a major boom for the world. So is the adaptation of solar; same with electric vehicles; 3D printing; AR/VR. When you really study these technologies, it is easy to see how much of a positive impact they can have.

It is sad there are people out there who post stuff like the one on Reddit. This individual is posting on a computer that Ronald Reagan or any other national leader in the 1980s would have loved to have using a mechanism (the Internet) that only the most advanced of technological minds at the time could even fathom. Yet our poster feels that things are going to be a lot worse in the future? It is obvious he has not be paying attention.

The guy should sell everything he has and buy Bitcoin. Then he can be part of the elite and not live in concentration housing since we know the elite are starting to buy Bitcoin.

You can't make this stuff up.
