Clash of the titans: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 vs Samsung Exynos 8895

in #technology7 years ago

The next generation 10nm smartphone SOCs that are going to power the high-end android devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have been unveiled.

The Samsung Exynos 8895 houses an Octa core CPU. Samsung has equipped the processor with four next generation Mongoose, and four Cortex A-53 cores, clocked at 2.5Ghz and 1.7Ghz respectively. It supports 4K video recording and playback at 120fps.

The Snapdragon 835 also features an Octa-core CPU with Qualcomm’s Kryo 280 cores which are arranged in two clusters of four cores, clocked at 2.45GHz and 1.9GHz, but the chipset is limited to 4K video recording and playback at 30fps which is inferior to the Exynos 8895. However, The Adreno 540 GPU inside the Snapdragon 835 is more powerful than the ARM Mali-G71 MP20 GPU that’s used in the Exynos 8895, and it supports a wider variety of APIs which also include the new DirectX 12 which is going to be a huge advantage over the Exynos 8895 for the Snapdragon 835 .
