The new super-weapon of the XXI century - AI

The new super-weapon of the XXI century will be not nuclear or thermonuclear bomb, and a self-learning artificial intelligence system, which already today are created by the leading powers of the world. This is the French futurologist Jean-Christophe Bonis said at a press conference in the "Kaspersky Lab", Kaspersky about the festival Geek Picnic.

"Nelson Mandela in 1995, wrote that the main weapon of the XXI century will be the education, which will replace nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction of the twentieth century. Actually, I think, it will be the artificial intelligence system – for their work, unlike the atomic bomb, does not need neither the uranium nor plants, nor other hard-to-reach things, but only silicon and electricity," said French researcher.

As the scientist, the fact of the creation or development of artificial intelligence systems you can't track just as the IAEA and other nuclear agencies are tracking the traces of uranium, plutonium or other radionuclides near secret facilities in North Korea or Iran. Therefore, the appearance of such a "super weapon" would be extremely difficult or even impossible to predict.

"Politicians and representatives of law enforcement agencies of France, Israel and many other countries deny that they are developing a similar system for conducting cyber warfare. Whether so it actually, we just can't test. But, I think these developments take place, and it is the main strategic task for most of the leading powers"

If this weapon is created, why is it not used yet? As explained by Anton Shingarev, Vice-President of "Kaspersky Lab", the NATO countries consider cyber attacks to be the equivalent of physical attack and reserve the right to respond to such a threat in any way.

Besides, cyber weapons will make vulnerable and attacking side, as a modern industrial and military sites use about the same equipment operating on similar principles and connected to the same global network. Accordingly, the victim of cyber attacks can learn than it was under attack and respond in the same way, and this denies the meaning of such attacks at the state level.

Previously, Stephen Hawking said that the end of the world on Earth is possible as a result of actions of artificial intelligence. 

"It is very tempting to assume that highly intelligent machines is something from science fiction. But to think so is a mistake, and perhaps the most dangerous of errors in the history of mankind."

Artificial intelligence is developing very fast. You have no idea how. This happens exponentially. We have to worry about it. Leading companies that are engaged in artificial intelligence, is now taking steps to ensure safety. They understand how serious this is. The company believe that they'll settle can keep AI digital under control and not allow his bad samples hit the Internet.
