Security analysts have found a keylogging code that is pre-installed on the software inside HP Laptops.

The hidden software records every character you type on your computer. Initially it was used to help HP find bugs during production but it was mistakenly left on most its laptop models.

The code is disabled but attackers have the list and could possibly break into your computer, enable it and monitor every character you've typed.

HP has issued a warning and also software to remove the problem. It is suggested owners of their laptops remove the hidden code immediately.

The list of affected products and the patch can be found here...

It's actually most of their more popular models including the HP Elitebook, Probook, Pavilion, Envy and more.

If you own an HP I'd suggest you download the fix, you can't be too careful nowadays!

Thanks for reading,

Great info. Thanks for that. I will download as soon as I get home.

No worries. The pics I used are of my wife's laptop so she'll have to remove it once she gets home aswell. I'm not allowed to touch her stuff 😛

Lol, well it’s just as well you don’t touch it as if something was missing you would be blamed for it.

Sometimes it's just as dangerous to have not touched it! "I put it down right next to my chair! You must have moved it!" "Well, you saw it was in a place where the cat could knock it off. Why didn't you move it?" Hahaha

Thanks for the warning man, looks like my 10 year old HP laptop is safe, it wasn't on the list.

It pays to have ancient equipment! lol Have a great day bud 😎

It does pay to older model stuff. Hackers aren't interested. My son wipes every computer hard drive he buys and re-installs the operating system and programs he uses. He just feels safer that way. Many computer manufacturers install key loggers and accidentally forget to erase them. How many are really accident and how many on purpose?

I blame the Chinese, always trying to spy and steal our information lol if not them the North Koreans or Russians..or maybe someone else?

How about big business? Everybody wants to know what we are doing. Where are we going on the net. Who are we talking to? Where do we shop? We do we bank and do we have credit cards? How many? It never ends. They want to target us with their millions of ads ...
