Immersive web with Firefox Reality
Earlier this year, Firefox announced that it is working on a Virtual Reality browser. Virtual Reality browser is being built from scratch by firefox mixed reality team and will be able to work in Virtual and Augmented Reality.
Designed from the virtual ground up
The main motive to mixed reality team inbuilt firefox reality was to provide immersive web experience to users. Mixed reality team has spent a lot of time and effort in figuring out how to design a browser in virtual reality. Among the features, the best one is the ability to search by voice. Text input is still a chore for virtual reality, and this is a great first step towards solving that. With Firefox Reality you can choose to search using the microphone in your headset.
Apart from voice, one can also give text input by opening virtual keyboard. And pointing the cursor over keys.
Content served fresh
When firefox reality is opened there is an immersive background a browser screen facing us. In the browser, we can search for other VR and AR related content. And enjoy them in VR environment itself. Firefox is working with developers around the world for building more and more mixed reality content. A major step in this direction was with the launch of A-frame( a library for building VR web applications).
A new dimension of Firefox
Firefox primary focus has always been privacy, and providing smooth and fast web experience. Firexfox launch of Quantum firefox for mobile was a major step towards the same. By Firefox reality and A-frame, firefox is trying to get users involved in a mixed reality at very cheap cost.
