Last year, I have difficulties in obtaining the Trading License. I went to the District Council three times in order to obtain it. I just don’t understand why you need to re-fill a form (the same form used to apply license for the first time) everytime you need to renew your Trading License and each time you need to attach supporting documents. To make it more difficult, you need to certify these documents. Just imagine there’re thousands of people renewing their license at the same place and there’re only two officers on duties at the counter! Not so efficient right!

Luckily, last week, my friend Suzan informed me that they have upgraded their system and we don’t have deal with ‘the unnecessary’ procedure anymore. At last! Somebody brilliant and up-to-date working in the department! All you have to do is photocopy the original Trading Licence, go to the counter to take your queue number and wait for officer to call your queue number. Upon your queue number being called, they will processed it, you'll have to wait for about 15 minutes for them to call you to get your new Trading Licence.

GENERAL GUIDELINE

Here’s a general guideline for those who wanted to apply for new Trading License.

1. Renewal of Trading License can be made for a period of one (1) year and not more than five (5) years.
2. Trading License Certificate can be obtained within fifteen (15) minutes from the time payment is made.
3. Any person who continues to carry on any business after the period of registration has expired commits an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years or both

Conditions Required To Apply for Trading License (Ordinary License)

1. Letter of authorization to lease the place from the building/land owner.
2. Photocopy identification card (must be certified true copy).
3. Latest Quit-rent.

Application for Trading License for Retail Store

1. Minutes of JKK (authorised committee) meeting.
2. Letter of confirmation from Ketua Kampung (Village Head).
3. Business plan layout / land grant.
4. Photocopy of identification card must be validated / certified true copy.
5. Latest Quit-rent.

Application for Business License for Sendirian Berhad (Private Limited)

1. Form 49 (Return Giving Particulars In Register Of Directors, Managers And Secretaries And Changes Of Particulars).
2. Form 9 (Certificate of Incorporation)
3. Form 24 (Return of Allotment of Shares).
4. Memorandum and Article (MOA).
5. Tenancy Agreement / Sale and Purchase Agreement.
6. Work Pass / Work Pass all such documents must be photocopied and certified by the company secretary or certified in court.
7. Latest Quit-rent.
