We 've all been thru the same journey as you have @digitalmind and it was not an overnight thing. I found that having quality post is just not enough , you also need to visit other people's blogs and have quality comments as well . Then you would attract quality followers . You:ll see your views on your posts increase steadily and then your upvotes . Cheers and keep steeming
Very valuable comment and advice. Indeed, it should not be taken as a short cut process in Steemit to be successful. Everyone goes thru the same path though some faster than others. I guess additional ingredient to the success is perseverance with the right approach is worth considered.
