MY CULTURE
My name is Namwoli Caroline Mpaata, amusoga by tribe. We are normally refered to as basoga who speak the lusoga language . we originate from the Eastern part of Uganda in districts like Iganga, Jinja(known as the place where river nile originates), Bugiri, Kamuli.
The basogas normally greet other asking "Okoba otya" meaning how are you, or "Agafa eyo" meaning whats new there.
The Basoga is one of the traditional bantu kingdom and culture who normally dress their cultural women in gomesi and kisibilo while women dress in kanzus.
MY KINGDOM
My kingdom is referred to as the Busoga kingdom with a king locally called kyabazinga (king of busoga). Our current kyabazinga(king) is William Kadhumbula Nadiope
, who is the son to the former vice predident and kyabazinga of Busoga kingdom known as Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope.
The kyabazinga's aim is to promote popular participation and unity among the busoga people and community. This is through development programs which improve standards of living.
The busoga community also assists their king in running of the kingdom.
CLANS OF THE BUSOGA CULTURE
The Busoga kingdom has 11clans but i will mostly clarify my clan. My name NAMWOLI originates from the Ngabi Clan. Ngabi means a kob so we use the kob as our clan symbol.
Ngabi clan originated from another tribe (Buganda) which intermarried with another tribe(Bunyoro) and produced a son called Nsamba who started up the Ngabi clan in Busoga.
FOODS ENJOYED IN BUSOGA REGIONS
In my culture, awoman is supposed to prepare her Husband's stapple food in the house. The most popular food in busoga is Mboli(sweet potatoes)
. Among other foods enjoyed by the basoga include
* Bananas (matooke)

* Groundnuts(amaido)
FOLKS IN BUSOGA
As a musoga, am believed and not supposed to greet a person eating so as to avoid food choking, so you just pass them saying "Tilamusa balya" meaning i don't greet people eating.
We are also expected to kneel as your greeting your husband and other elders.
The basogas normally carry out Farming, Fishing, as a way to maintain there standards of living.
When it comes to my culture, i have alot to say but atleast i have said it all. We normally conclude saying Obusoga bulaile ( longlive Busoga)
