Bak Kut Teh Delight

Good day dear @tasteem, Steemians and food lovers. This week I would like to bring you to a restaurant that serves Bak Kut Teh which is located at Donggongon town, Penampang. The place is just about 30 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu City. The restaurant is actually operated on two sessions, one is day time - 6 AM to 5 PM and another is night session - 5 PM to 10 PM. I'm going to highlight the night session here as this is where the delightful Bak Kut Teh is served.

Dining Areas

The restaurant is located on a corner lot. It's an open space and really nice to have dinner with the breezy air. Though it is open-aired, it's still equipped with ceiling fans. It's a typical normal Chinese restaurant that serves good quality and delicious food.

The restaurant deco concept is very simple, just a big banner showing their main dish Bak Kut Teh. Bak Kut Teh which literally means meat bone tea is an amazing broth based dish with a strong herbal taste.

The Food

Although the restaurant's main dish is the Bak Kut Teh, you can still request for other dish to go with it. This you have to ask the friendly waiter on dish that are available.

We ordered this healthy yet delicious Bak Kut Teh. It comes in a claypot that is heated until the soup reaches a furious boil. It is said that Bak Kut Teh soup have many health benefits such as promote the blood circulation, enrich skin, alleviate allergies and man's potency. The soup consists of 13 types of Chinese herbs such as Angelic Sinensis, Lycium Barbarum, Poria cocos etc.

Dip the meat and that 'everything-in-it' in dark soya sauce with freshly cut chilli and minced garlic to enjoy a taste of heaven!

This is the Pork salted with salty egg york dish. This dish uses aromatic curry leaves and fresh chopped small chili to complement the salted egg yolk. The smell of the salted egg yolks and butter just makes you salivate and one bite is good enough to have you hanker for more. Though just be careful of the hidden chopped chili, one bite makes you run for water!

We also order this simple and tasty Vegetables called 'Sayur Manis' fried with eggs. My daughter is a picky eater when its come to greeny dish, but surprisingly she loves this dish. It taste just like its name, 'Sayur Manis' which means sweet vegetables.

The dishes that we had were simple yet appetizing and a good combination to eat with steam white rice!

For drinks, I ordered this simple and aromatic Chinese Teh. Just the perfect drink after eating this heavy meal.

My Thoughts

It’s a good place to bring your friends or family. The restaurant is clean and nice environment to chill out with your family or friends. Price is quite reasonable. It's a place where you can dine with budget below RM50.00. The meal that we had only cost RM38.00.

I highly recommended this place to my friends out there who love a taste of Bak Kut Tehdelight.
