Colourful food, ideal portions, good on taste and value for money - That's Shree Swami Samarth
Yesterday, my friend, who works nearby, and with whom I've explored many places in Kamala Mills, called me and asked if I wanted to meet for lunch. I immediately said yes and we met outside Kamala Mills. However, we were in no mood to spend a lot of money. The idea was to have simple food, spend less and catch up. After exploring the area for a bit, we found Shree Swami Samarth.
From the face of it, the place looked like a more typical Mumbai restaurant. We also liked that it serves only vegetarian food. The place had a table that we could grab quickly. We were given the menus very quickly too. It was lunch time, so no one wastes any time.
Not knowing the portion size, we first ordered aloo gobhi, lentil curry and 2 chapatis each. While waiting for the food, ai also clicked a few pics of the place. It's not a big place but I don't expect that waiting times will be long here. Our food came quite quickly.

As I said earlier, our order came in 10 to 15 minutes. Pics first, then details.
Aloo Gobhi
Dal Fry and Chapati
First, it is important to focus on the colours, because of what will follow. Dal Fry was excellent. Chapatis were also very thin and soft. Aloo Gobhi was very different. It was very tangy and had a tomato based texture, very different from how one would eat it in North india. Food was overall homely, not very spicy. However, portion size didn't fill both of us. So we went on to order more. Wehn we had walked in, we saw few people eating rice dishes. So we ordered Tawa Pulao to share.

After some red, yellow, and light brown, we got some white, pastel yellow, and orange on our table. The Tawa pulao was also really good. The ypghurt helped balance out the apices in it and poppadums helped add crunch.
The food till then had looked so appealing and tasted so nice, we decided to share one more dish.

We ordered Palak Khichdi next.

We ended with green. I love Palak Khichdi in general. However, this one had a very strong taste and aroma from dry spices. Something was neded to balance the heat, and yoghurt went perfectly with it. I had palak khichdi with yoghurt for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised.
That was all the food we had and we paid INR 350 for it. That is only $5! The food was delicious. Even the thumbnails of the food I had were visibly satisfying. I'm rating this place 5, on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best. This was satisfying on so many levels - variety, taste, price. Must visit place for anyone on a budget.
