The U.S. begins bombing Taliban drug labs as Trump’s Afghanistan strategy takes hold

"So we don't sit down and talk to people, we just bomb infrastructure to relay the message that we don't like what you are doing so therefore you and what you are doing have to go. We will aerial bomb the living crap out of you and that should send you a message, besides we need to clear the way cause we know up under that ground is some much needed resources that we just found out are there.

So after the smoke clears we can go in and get that stuff, cause we are certainly gonna redirect your poppy processing plants into something more lucrative like pomegranate and wheat. And if we discover that after 10 years of waiting for the smoke to clear, well, we will just send our reconstruction team in to fix it all for you cause we do realize that Afghanistan has been one of the major sources of our opioids, used by our Pharmaceuticals and we need to sure up, that if it does come out of Afghanistan that it goes directly the route we need it to travel. not through some underground operations out of Pakistan where we cannot get our hands on it, because surely our hands are much cleaner than the black market opioids that are floundering all over the globe and especially here in the US where deaths from overdoses has skyrocketed.

This is all for your benefit. Don't worry about the fallout of bombs because the smoke will settle, on you, your families and even those other parts of nature nearby, but that's no problem, we will clean that up to, besides, what's 10 years compared to an eternity. You will be well taken care of by our big and mighty bombs." Unquote

NB Commentary: To me this is the most ridiculous strategy I have ever heard of. But nobody asked me and so we shall see how one this goes, Mr. Trump.

Excerpt:

The strikes have been concentrated in northern Helmand province, an area where the Taliban have long held sway. More than 20,000 Marines were based there during the Obama administration, rooting out the Taliban while training Afghan forces to fight the militants. The Taliban swiftly reclaimed large swaths of territory after the Marines withdrew in 2014.

The strikes Sunday hit seven Taliban drug laboratories and a headquarters in three districts across northern Helmand. Three occurred in Kajaki district, four in Musa Qala and one in Sangin — all areas controlled by the U.S. military at the height of Obama’s troop surge there. The largest, carried out by a B-52, struck a opium-processing facility where 50 barrels of drugs were cooking at the time, Nicholson said. Video released by the Pentagon shows the building being consumed by a massive fireball.
