The Joy of Classics (36)

Let's continue with "The Joy of Classics".

Today we are going to write (and also play a little bit...) about August Eberhard Müller (1767-1817), who was a German composer and organist.

He was trained by his father and made his first performance when he was eight.

That means he was another infant prodigy!

Later he studied under Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach and finally from 1789 he worked as choir leader, teacher and organist in several German cities.

Müller contributed to the spread of Viennese Classicism and composed some pieces for the piano like this delicious one called "The Cuckoo Waltz".

Look at the score:

• It is written in C Mayor
• As you can see in the first four measures, Müller wants to imitate the sound of the cuckoo using the notes of the C major chord (C-E-G).
• Then he sings a nice melody with the right hand, accompanied by the left hand, first in C and then in F.
• Finally he repeated the structure, although in this case using Thirds with the right hand for the last phrase.

And it sounds like that.

Vamos a continuar con "La alegría de los clásicos"

Hoy vamos a escribir (y también tocar un poco...) sobre August Eberhard Müller (1767-1817) que fue un compositor y organista alemán.

Instruido por su padre, hizo su primero actuación a los ocho años

Lo que significa que ¡fue otro niño prodigio!

Más tarde estudió bajo la tutela de Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, y finalmente a partir de 1789 trabajó como director de coro, profesor y organista en varias ciudades alemanas.

Müller contribuyó a extender el clasicismo vienés y compuso algunas piezas para piano como esta delicia titulada "El Vals del Cuco".

Fijaos en la partitura:

• Está escrita en Do Mayor
• Como podéis observar en los cuatro primeros compases, Müller quiere imitar el sonido del cuco utilizando las notas del acorde de Do Mayor (Do-Mi-Sol).
• Después canta con la mano derecha una agradable melodía, acompañada por la mano izquierda, primero en Do Mayor, y luego en Fa Mayor.
• Finalmente, repite la estructura, aunque usando terceras con la mano derecha para la última frase.

Y suena así.
