Cryptocurrency Hustle: VLOG 32 - OH NO! Sad Day In Miner Land Antminer S5 Meltdown & Repair

While away from home with the kids I received an email alert that my S5 was no longer mining in the pool. Moments later i received another notice that all my miners where no longer mining.  Upon returning home to an extremely hot room I found my S5 in desperate need of rescue. Lucky me i was able to make it out of this one without loosing my hardware.

That's pretty dangerous, lets say you are not home and something like this happens.

There's somebody usually home to unplug or at least ventilate the room but that day everyone was gone and I had to work a double

It's really great postings ,, I like your post article, I will follow you ,, follow me back and vote me

i appreciate the love about to check your page out now

Mining that time not give us so much profit @thelordsfinest!!

currently im mining DGB with my miners some days I do $5 some days i only do $2 because where i live i can't have them all running at the same time.

Green light! Such a good thing to see in that situation. Nicely done. You need to figure out what caused the short though. Perhaps you should have been using all the power plugs to lower cable temps? Is an S5 meant to run on only 2 cables? I know the S3+ etc can, but even with the S3+ or older models; it isn't recommended to do that because the cables can get hot.
(I still do it, though, never had a problem)

Were you running it in your washroom there? Was there heat building up?

If the room doesn't have sufficient airflow and/or you don't have sufficient airflow around your miner, things just keep heating up more and more. Then if you are only using 2 cables -- those factors would potentially cause eventual damage.

But maybe it just shorted or had a loose wire. Make sure you check all the wires, it looked like one was coming loose on your power supply.

Good post!

At the time of the meltdown the s5 was in my bedroom. Im rarely home but leave my windows open to vent the heat, but a family member closed the window on me leaving the heat from 3 s3's and the s5 trapped in the room with the door closed. OMG! right. They have no concept to what im doing so it's hard, i keep trying to explain to them they can't do that and think they gone blame me when the house burn down lol. But yeah I moved the s5 to the wash room with my s4 because it has better air flow. The downside is that I can only run the miners in the wash room at night.

Nice save man! one of my wires on my miner in the bathroom recently burnt a whole in the floor.... glad it didn't start a fire.... switching to burstcoin now!!! haha

If you wouldn't mind following and up-voting me back it would be much appreciated :) https://steemit.com/@maninjapan1989

Yeah i think im going to get an s7 and that might be my last one for a while. I had planned on focusing on burst as well waiting to hear back from one my co-workers at his second job they have a bunch of old servers they get rid of on the regular when they upgrade.
