What is wrong with first person shooters

Introduction

Now this is not a knock at these games these are all great games in different rights but the creators should understand how fake, cartoony, casual and sometimes unfun playing a game with these limitations in the game! These could be fixed by tweaking the game a little bit more to add a little bit more depth skill and precision needed to do certain things in a game.

I know this section of this website is big on CS : GO so I might step on a few toes here. I love CS : GO. But I do see the flaws in the game and will address them. I hope you do not get offended by my post.

I hope that big game devs come on this website or a game dev that is on this website like @noganoo to chime in and tell me if he agrees or disagrees with this post. Also If you play any of these games come in here and let me know id love to chat with you.

Alot of people my age I see get bored with games a few days after playing. This problem should be addressed and or fixed. There is a cycle of buy game think it is badass, go into denial that the game is badass that there is something wrong and get bored and rebuy a new game.

Note not all of people will have this idea that the game is unfun because it is purely my opinion

Regenerating health

Why can't you understand that you took a hit of damage you should continue on and figure out the best course of action to stay alive and defeat your enemy. You destroy the ability to have a quick battle by doing this. It also destroys any tactic involved. You just run away and get your health back which is more time to kill an enemy. BORING. Regenerating health makes a battle between two people artificially longer. It also hides what you have done to an enemy. Health packs scattered around randomly fairly can adjust this problem of losing your health. It also makes it dynamic so people can fight over health packs.

what games have this problem?

CoD Halo Battlefield TF2 Overwatch

No - Recoil/Less recoil then should be in a game.

When you have no recoil in a game the shots a gun will make in a game will just go to where the reticle is pointed. What is the fun of that if you are always pointing at an enemy. IT makes it even worse when the game automatically points to the next person you are shooting at, it just leads to easy kills. How deep the game is whoever the first person pointing at the next person wins! The more closer the recoil is to a real gun in a game the more legit the gunplay will be in a game. Bullets will fly near your head. You will have the whizzing noise and a pop or a dink in the wall or metal near you. You will see the particles fly and hit the wall or barricade in front of you it gives you a warning as a way to defeat your enemy. You have three options shoot randomly and let a shot hit and kill. Be careful analyze the shots and the patterns the guns make and strike when it is the most opportune moment. Or learn how the gun works and use it to the best of the ability what you can.

what games have this problem?

Gta Halo Cod TF2 overwatch

games that still have this problem but to a lesser degree

Player battle under ground. CS:GO, Battlefield.

Hitboxes that are not placed correctly on players/or not the right size.

If the game you are playing has bad hitbox sizes what happens is one of two things. Shots that are not even on the target hit an enemy and kill them. Or you will not be able to hit an enemy but barely any games have this problem because a ton of games have either good hitboxes or larger ones. Another problem that has arisen in a modern game is the ability to kill people through a wall. A positive version of this is in cs 1.6. When you would shoot through a wall it would traverse the thickness of the wall but the damage would be perfectly adjusted for the transition so it would hurt the player less.

what games have this problem?

Overwatch Paladins fps part CoD cs : go TF2 etc

bad hit registration/ all bullets feel the same when they hit.

So when I mean bad hit registration I mean two things. One when you shoot a guy it does not hit him and number two bullets will always do the same damage no matter where the registration hits on the body. I am bringing up a 1998 game that did this perfectly with its game engine. When you would shoot people in cs 1.6 every gun would be different. You would need to calculate how many shots in what body parts would kill a person. Three shots by a glock in the head would kill where as 5 shots in the gut would kill. It would not change it would be a constant feature that was in the game. If you change it up in the game where it would be randomized or the same it feels like you are not shooting a person. And if it is the same it makes it feel like every gun is the same. This rule also goes with first person games that have melee weapons too. A game that every melee weapon hit is the same is tf2.

what games have the problem where the hit registration is random?

CS go

what games have the problem where the hit registration is the same?

CS go and CoD overwatch and pretty much all of the above.

As you can see there is some problems with our current first person shooter game industry.
These might be intentional or just swept under the rug to get a decent product out.
The only way that these games thrive is off of people purchasing them so I hope you keep getting your fix at these games and hopefully you show the flaws to the devs of the games. Your voice matters and you should feel free to speak if you do not like something.

Anyways happy fragging

I hope you all are kicking ass in whatever game you are playing

I wouldn't really call these issues - they are just game mechanics. This way you could argue that monopoly has an issue that you get money everytime you make it around (and I know this is a house rule - but it's SO common) instead of taking it away as taxes.

Well your right i should say the mechanics should be tweaked

I would disagree - that's just the way the game works. If you don't like it, don't play the game :)

It is a problem when the majority of the games have these features. when you are looking for something with complexity and depth. I cant go door to door with all the devs and say hey man can u just do this for a bit and try it out it does not work like that

If you feel like there is a gap on the market - fill it ;)

i aint a dev just a critic dude I might be an ideaguymandude but those are frowned down upon in society

That is like looking for a needle in the haystack.

There is this one russian game thats bad ass that is coming out soon. It looks down my alley but i forgot the name

Yea, a lot of games have recoil issues, but if it was greater like it should be, the scripters advantage would be even worse.
Another issue with hit registration, don't forget to consider that most modern games give a trajectory variance to every bullet. So most of the time it's just left to luck. go figure.

There should not be people able to script recoil like that. It should be an equal ground. Yes that is an issue I didnt touch upon! it is random and its annoying

haha you try stopping cleaver kids with nothing better to do from breaking the rules.

BAN THEM!

upped back , thanks ! 👍
