Shuter Street Bridge Toronto Canada - Photography

in #photography7 years ago

I used to work in downtown Toronto as an onsite Helpdesk Analyst. I would use my lunch breaks to take pictures around the city (weather permitting of course).

Below you'll find a photo I took inside the Li Ka Shing bridge connecting St. Micheal's to the research centre. Below are some details of the bridge, which looks pretty cool!

St. Michael's Hospital which is know as "Toronto's Urban Angel" is connected to the Li Ka Shing Research building across Shuter Street.

The steel frame for one of Toronto’s rare enclosed pedestrian bridges was recently hoisted into place in downtown Toronto, connecting St. Michael’s main hospital building with its new Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute.

The bridge’s tubular steel frame, which is about 18 metres long and 4 metres in diameter, was manufactured and assembled by Gartner Steel and Glass in Germany, shipped across the Atlantic to New York and then trucked to Toronto.

The bridge is one of only a handful of enclosed pedestrian bridges crossing streets in Toronto, where city officials usually deny permission for them.
