Hello, college student here, I'm new to the platform.

Hello!

I just found Steemit a few days ago and I'm quite interested in trying it out. Still reading through a lot of the documentation, though. I've been on-and-off interested in cryptocurrency since 2012 or so, and used to mine Dogecoin a lot back when it first came out (currently trying my hand at Bytecoin/Monero mining but we'll see how that goes).

I'm a 3rd year aerospace engineering and physics student at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Right now I have way too much to do and will not be able to contribute here much, but hopefully that will change come next quarter.

Although I don't have time for it at the moment, I like to work on my own personal technical projects. In the past I've made things like a Geiger counter and a 20,000 volt power supply. I currently have a bunch of old prepaid Android phones lying around and would like to eventually look into optimizing them for CryptoNight mining (and uses for them while they are mining, such as the Tracfone alarm clock miner I saw posted here), even though I am fully aware of how little they will make. Once I have time to continue work on these projects I plan on posting some of them here along with guides on how to reproduce them.

If anyone reads this, thanks! I hope to post more in the future.
