dan larimer - charcoal (l.e. part I)

in #art7 years ago (edited)

i really admire dan larimer, he's probably my favorite guy in the blockchain field.

6.jpg

i also like to draw interesting, peculiar faces. and dan larimer is a pretty weird looking dude so i had fun drawing him. unfortunately i only had like 1-2 hours of light left so i didn't get to finish, but i may return to it one of these days.

*this is not intended as a tutorial. just illustrating the various phases. i am self taught and have no actual system or method

first i get in some rough proportions. then lay in some features and hard shadows

1.jpg

then take some out and blend. and then add some more :)

2.jpg

once i am roughly satisfied with the proportion (i try not to get to preoccupied with "likeness", especially in charcoal cause its so plastic) i start laying in some characteristic details around those generic features.

3.jpg

then i blend the details and shadows and add detail shadows and lights. not really done here but in progress

4.jpg

cat is really grumpy. hope i get a chance to work on it a couple more hours

You are so talented @misu! :-D
You deserve a High Paw!

hahha thank you @flatrider i am honored! awesome high paw! ((:

funny coincidence, in romanian graphics jargon a word used to describe an artist who can draw really well and with energy is "labos", from the noun "laba" (paw eng.) + the suffix "-os", thus it roughly translates to something like pawish.
now i am not quite worthy of the attribute pawish, let alone high paw! but i appreciate it (:

/probably worth noting the nsfw form of the word, the same root "laba" (paw eng.) + suffix "-giu" which is jargon for wanker. so, a distinction worth making i guess ((:

You're welcome @misu and only interpret the High Paw as a gesture of positivity. :-D

Great work and really interesting to hear about your process! Inspiring that you are self taught. I too am a fan of Dan's, it seems everything he has been building or worked on recently has some real value and potential in today's world.

Well done again and keep up the good work :)

thanks @balditron the process is the best part actually, to bad there is little way to convey that (:
i'm happy you like it, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment

as for dan larimer what can i say, the dude is amazing, a rare individual indeed

am i wrong to deduce that if my post has 133 upvotes and only 35 views, then it means was resteemed??
