PitchPerfect Week #29 - "Romanza sin Palabras" Op. 19 No. 4 F. Mendelssohn (Interpretación)

in #pitchperfect6 years ago (edited)

¡Saludos Steemians!

Greetings Steemians! In this opportunity I will participate with an instrumental theme for piano of the great F. Mendelssohn, one of his romances; Op.19 No. 4. This work in La mayor, full of sweetness and measured expression is one of the brief musical accounts of the German composer, a synthesis between the classic and the romantic. In that sense Schuman will say of Meldelssohn what is

«The nineteenth-century Mozart, the clearest musician, the first to know how to see and reconcile the contradictions of an entire era»

Felix Mendelssohn was born in Hamburg, Leipzig (1809), now Germany, he died in the year 1847. He was a composer, pianist and conductor.

Second of four brothers, he was born into a family of bankers of Jewish origin, who had converted to Protestantism. Child prodigy, soon showed signs of an unusual talent not only for music, but also for drawing, painting and literature. His gifts were stimulated by a family atmosphere in which artistic manifestations were always encouraged.

Carl Friedrich Zelter's composition student (through whom he met the great Goethe), Mendelssohn's first works in this field were translated into twelve symphonies for string, some small operas, an Octet for string and the overture The dream of a summer night. These last two works mark the beginning of his maturity as a composer.

He was also a good performer of violin, viola and piano, facets to which he would later add that of conductor. In this area, one of his first and most remembered performances took place in 1829, when he played in Berlin the Passion according to San Mateo, by Bach, in a concert that supposed the recovery of this work after a century of oblivion. Bach, along with Mozart and Handel, would be one of the pillars of his style.

A few years later, in 1835, he was entrusted with the direction of the orchestra of the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, a position he held until his untimely death. Her sister Fanny Mendelssohn (1805-1847) was also a talented composer, author of valuable lieder and piano pieces.
