A Proper Introduction/5 reasons why anyone should join Steemit today.

Yes I know:

“Marc, an introduceyourself post now?”

NOW!?

WTF, Marc!?

Apologies for not introducing myself sooner but I'm doing it. Here it goes.

NEW PROFILE PIC.jpg

Hi there! My name is Marc Cage. I’m currently living in Bowie Maryland but I was born and raised in Livingston, New Jersey.

During my childhood years, everything was not properly falling into place while growing up. I struggled a bit in elementary, middle and high school. There were moments, of course, where those suicidal thoughts did enter my mind (interestingly, these occurrences happened mostly during my later elementary school years around 2000-2002), whether it was from academics, peers and dealing with haughty, pain-in-the-ass teachers. Luckily, I managed to finish all three and then went to college initially majoring in Biology and then switching to geography with a concentration in urban studies.

Life is filled with various obstacles and those obstacles are not there to pull you down, they are there to build you up. I learnt pretty later in my life that I should stop making excuses and just push through those obstacles.

There only two things that have allowed me to come up for a breath when I’m submerged in this ocean filled with chemical imbalance and depression. The first one is music. I enjoy listening and playing (currently not too fucking good at it for the moment) music. I’ve played piano since I was six and cello since I was ten. I listen to Radiohead, Bjork, Cocteau Twins, Talk Talk and electronic artists such as Burial, Boards of Canada and Massive attack. The one artist that I’ve listened to for years since 1999 was Sigur Ros. In fact, I’m think about doing either a video or blogpost on my favorite Sigur ros album () and probably my favorite album of all time (yes, I do mean that).

This album is very important to me.

Spoiler-alert: it kinda has to do with that depression I was talking about.

The second that keeps me at ease is of course writing. In fact, it was something I was always doing when I was younger. Funny enough, I stopped doing that during my teen years but recently, I started doing little short stories just to kind of get my creative juices flowing. I’m very happy that I found Steemit because the site is helping me not only to learn more about different topics (ex: bitcoin/cryptocurrency) but I am getting back more into writing, which is great for me, mentally.

I know that this is an intro post but I wanted to share 5 reasons why I think anyone should join Steemit today.

1. There’s Something For Everyone

At Steemit, there’s no limit to what you can write about. Whether you’re a real tech junkie, a history buff, or simply love discussing the latest news, there’s a section of the site that’s just perfect for you. Even if you’re not the original author of the post, you can still receive a reward if you contribute something to the conversation and other users upvote your comments. What’s more, the fact that it’s so easy to find your way around Steemit means that your posts won’t get lost under a mountain of other content. All you have to do is tag your posts to let people know what you’re writing about, and you should see a steady stream of upvotes and comments.

2.It’s Free To Use

In order to start using Steemit, and receive your rewards, you’ll need to register for an account. However, this process is completely free- so there’s absolutely no risk involved! In addition, it’s simple to convert your crypto into cash, and unlike other forms of cryptocurrency, there’s no need to “buy in” before you can make a profit. Just like all your other favorite social media sites, Steemit doesn’t cost you anything to use, so there’s no excuse for not getting on board and starting your very own Steemit journey today.

3. It’s Building Up A Huge Community

Within just a year of launching, Steemit has already picked up almost half a million users, and that figure continues to grow every day. Naturally, when you’re getting paid for likes and comments on your post, a large community can only be a good thing- it means there’s much more of a chance of your content getting noticed. If you’re able to create posts that really connect with the community, then you could well find yourself at the center of a viral buzz- and earning a healthy profit while you’re at it!

4. You Can Even Earn Money From Curating Content

Even if you’re not especially creative yourself, there’s still a way that you can start earning money on Steemit. It’s not just creators who get paid- so-called “curators”, who single out posts that they think are especially noteworthy, are also rewarded for their efforts. The more popular content you discover, the more STEEM Power you gain, and your rewards will increase in tandem. So, if you’ve got an eye for the next big viral posts, then Steemit could be a great opportunity for you!

5. Your Tokens Are Sure to Hold Their Value

Steemit users are rewarded in the form of two different cryptocurrencies: STEEM and Steem Dollars. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, the value of these tokens aren’t so much linked to trading as they are to the number of active Steemit users. In essence, the more people use Steemit, and the more they take part in the community, the better these tokens will hold their value. This site has already built up an extremely loyal following of hundreds of thousands, so the future looks extremely bright for Steemit.

So to conclude this introductionpost, my name is Marc Cage. I love music and I love to write. I find that Steemit is a wonderful community and unlike certain social media websites, I am honestly proud to be a part of this platform.

What's up welcome to Steemit.

Hi @authenticbeatz! Thanks for the welcome!

Looking forward to your blog.

Hi Marc!
OMG Sigur Ros. We need to be friends. Also, I just started listening to Radiohead's new(er) album and when I am feeling depressed or anxious, the song "Daydreaming" hits me right in the feels. The good feels. The not-so-depressed feels. Even though it's kind of a depressing song. It's also magical and beautiful and...imma shut up now. I'm new too, and can't wait to start connecting with people! I'm glad to have come across your open and honest post!
Cheers,
Beth

Hi Beth!
Yes I eternally love Sigur Ros. I love "Daydreaming". That song really gets to me as well, in a good way of course. Actually, I will say that A Moon Shaped Pool is in the top 5 of my favorite Radiohead albums.
Have you listened to the previous radiohead albums (ex: Kid A, OK Computer, In rainbows, etc.)?

Yasss. I think OK Computer will always be my favorite because it got me hooked! But I love the others as well. Every time they release a new album I am dumbfounded at how even more originality comes out somehow. Dayum.

Welcome to steemit, looking forward to seeing you around @chessmasterhex.

Welcome..... to the new world. Cheers.
