Medina Azahara, fue una ciudad Palatina, su nombre viene del árabe, Madīnat al-Zahrā, que quiere decir la ciudad brillante, no lo sabia pero he buscado el significado por internet, la mando edificar Abderramán III, se supone que fue construida con fines politicos e ideólogos , para hacer ver su poder ante los demás califas , pero hay otra version que dice que se hizo en homenaje a su mujer favorita Azahara.
El yacimiento arqueológico ha sido declarado bien de interés cultural, aunque actualmente esta ya declarado como patrimonio de la humanidad.
Esta situada a 8 Km. al oeste de cordoba, perteneciente a sierra morena y frente al valle del Guadalquivir. Hay mucha mas información por internet pero esta claro que para ver la maravilla de este yacimiento arqueológico hay que ir allí a verlo, esta muy bien conservado, se ven hasta las habitaciones que habían, pero en fin, os dejo que veáis algunas fotos y el resto espero que vayáis por allí.
