In a game you get to be any character you want. If you really want it, in life too.

This is a funny way of seeing things in life

There are many blogs about life being a game. The truth is that sometimes a game seems far more real to some of us that real life. Here’s what I mean.

Lets take childhood for example.

Life is simple for a baby. Nothing to worry about; you still trying to figure out what the hell is those things coming out of your butt that makes funny noises. Meanwhile, your parents have an urge to find a fictional character from a game or something to tag you. This character will represent you for the first couple of years.
A normal day in a baby’s life, he is trying to pee mommy’s face while she is changing his dipper, mommy gets a brilliant idea; “I got it!” “You are going to love Pikachu?” So from that moment on, you are stuck with Pikachu.

They dress you like a cute Pikachu for your birthday, they buy you a Pikachu lunch box and your room is all about Pikachu and Pokémon Characters. Your first words are “Pika Pika” instead of Momma or Dada.

This is a normal childhood for some of us. I used Pikachu to relate to some of you. In my day all we had was Atari.

Then comes the teen’s stage or should I say Level 13 to 19.

This stage is probably one of the toughest.
By now, you are looking at old pictures and thinking; what the hell my parents were thinking about? Pikachu REALLY!; on less you were one of the people that got hooked in the “Pokémon Go” madness that only lasted a few months. I was one of those, but I got out, when they patched the game in a way that you could no longer fool your location on your android and be anywhere you wanted to be in the world. You actually had to get out of your couch to catch them all. I made my Pokemon Go the hell out of my phone! I guess a lot of people felt the same.

At this phase you are older and can choose who you want to be. You want to be someone cool and tough. Now you are Fulgore or Orchid from “Killer Instinct” or Rhonda Kreske or Dick Baker from “Dead Rising 3”.

Your parents don’t really like your new characters but they get used to the idea. They still buy you t-shirts and books cover of your favorite characters.

In school you are popular in your circle of friends. Your username in everything you sign-up has the name of your favorite character and a random number. A random number because a thousand users picked the same name you want, so you have to add a random number that no one had come up with. After many tries you finally came up with “Fulgore-001_Mad-Killer-2017”, because all the other simpler usernames were taken. You don’t have to go too far to can see an example of this. Check carefully some of the usernames in Steemit right about now.

I see some people smiling. You know who you are!

After some experience of what real life is all about, then comes Adulthood:

This is a stage that a lot of teen what to reach really fast to do whatever they want to do. Believe me; once you get there you want to turn that clock back. You want to be 19 years old but with everything you know now. You would take your sweet time and enjoy everything that you missed in life.

When you are an adult you don’t think you are the character, but you daydream that you are. I have a friend, he is 42, and I will call him Goku to protect his identity.

He lives in the Dragon Ball Z world. He goes to the Comic Con dressed like Goku. He collects every single character from Dragon Ball Z. I am surprised he didn’t name his son Goku jr or something. He’s got Dragon Ball Z bumper stickers in his actual bumper. I know; who the hell uses bumper stickers in 2017?
At least he outgrew the Ryu (Street Fighter) phase. I hated the occasional, hadoken and shoryuken, yelling for no reason. I wanted to chew his head like Blanka.

He is a good friend and trustworthy, even if I have to smack him back to reality once in a while.

As you get older you don’t care about video games anymore… Are you kidding? I am 44 and I still in love with my games. My wife yells at me all the time for playing too much, so I close the door and start hugging my Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and in my head I can hear “My Precious” like the Gollum in the Lord of The Rings.

In a funny kind of way, I believe video games are very much embedded in our life more than we want to admit it. Let me show you just a couple of examples I can relate, sort of.

Sample number one: (A hybrid from Grand Theft Auto and Mario Brother).

I do this quite often in my mind, of course. Not proud but give me a C+ for honesty.
You go down the road and see some people crossing the streets like the world is theirs. Not looking to either side of the road and with this; you got to stop attitude. You just want to hit them with the car like a game of Grand Theft Auto and collect 100 coins. In my made-up game I collect coins like Mario Bros.

Sample number two: “Just Dance “Game and a reality check from a video from YouTube with the title “Worst Dancer Ever”

You are in the middle of a dance floor in a club and you are feeling like an all-star from “Just Dance” game. In your head your score is ///Perfect!///. You go back to your table and one of your friends recorded your dancing moves. That when you see yourself dancing for the first time ever. (Reality Check) That’s when realize you dance like the girl in this video on YouTube.

This is a must see video to get a feeling of what I am talking about.

Sample number three: Madden NFL

You walk out of you house feeling like, a quarterback playing for the Patriots. You can crush anyone you come across with, because you are “The Man” in Madden NFL. You go to school or work and you walk in the room slamming the door really hard. Give people a bad look because you are a bad-ass kind of guy. Someone bumps into you and in your head you are yelling “hey A-hole watch where you are going!” You walk into the mini-market and get a bottle of soda drink and some Twinkies and go back home. Walk in the kitchen and ask you mom to open the bottle cap because is too strong. Go to your room and play some more Madden NFL to boost your ego and turn on you “Official Lego DC Batman Nightlight” and sleep tight.

The truth is that sometimes we need to press the pause button. Look around you and start making this life worth living. Set yourself some goal and work hard to reach them. It will be worth your time.
In the real world you only get one life, on less you are into re-incarnation, but that’s another post. Life feels slow but when you are older you will see how fast it really is.

Everything will have ups and downs but in between grab your controller and play some Battlefield. Yeah!

Actually you can play the game of your choice. Gaming is just another sweet pleasure of life, not your whole life.
