Hey Steemit!

My name is Julian, I am a 21-year old travel photographer and computer science student from Germany.

When I was 9 years old, I started taking photos with a crappy analogue Camera I had found at my grandmothers' house. Now I am earning a passive income by selling stock photos on some major platforms such as Shutterstock and Fotolia. The word stock photos makes most people think about those horrible photos of people with artificial smiles on a white background — but what I do is different:

When I finished school in the age of 18, I decided that I wanted to travel the world. Most people think of a trip around the world as something incredibly expensive, but thanks to geo arbitrage, traveling turns out to be really affordable in many countries, actually it is cheaper than living in a tiny student apartment in Germany (although we do have free universities in Germany!). Of course, I had my camera on me all the time and during my 17 months trip I captured most of the photos I am selling now.

About a year ago, somewhere in Thailand I was editing my photos and watching a TED-Talks, when Youtube decided to queue a Talk about the blockchain and it's possibilities. I had heard about Bitcoin before, but never realized the potential the Blockchain has. Ever since I have been following the developments in Crypto and the Blockchain. There are so many amazing ideas!
And hey, to expand my photo business I should probably finally create an Instagram account, but I love the concept of Steemit to take social media out of the hands of businesses such as Facebook and form a real community with monetary incentives to create amazing content, so after reading Steemit posts for several months now, I have finally decided to create an account, and here I am!
