We are infinity

in #creativity7 years ago

I used to wonder what a quantum computer would look like and how it would function until, one day, it suddenly struck me that I already had the answer right on my shoulders. The brain – the most sophisticated and powerful tool known to humanity. Paired together with my beautiful mind, which is the software that runs that whole thing, I am in possession of limitless computing and creative power. I am a child of the universe, capable of choosing, creating, and changing, a godlike creature and a true manifestation of infinity. We all are.

Yet, we often feel utterly unimaginative and unable to create anything. Why?

As we know, the mind can be conscious, subconscious, and… well, unconscious. We can easily witness our creative power in action at night when we are having dreams; during that time, the subconscious mind becomes active and starts making all sorts of bizarre things and scenarios. We can think of it as a random screensaver that runs while the whole machine is asleep. One the other hand, the conscious mind normally operates in the so-called reality, where we are awake and physically active. Similar to the dream-state, reality presents us so many possibilities that at any given moment, there’s an infinite number of ways to influence what’s happening around us!

Being able to play with the possibilities is what creativity is essentially about, and this is also where the problem lies: we are not taking full advantage of them! We have fallen into habit and routine, thus becoming increasingly ignorant of our individual and collective power. Add in our natural laziness and propensity to succumb to distractions, and we have a wonderful recipe for a dull life and social disharmony.

School, religion, TV, radio, ads, society, and even our friends and parents, have all contributed along the way by constantly marinating us in propaganda juice. This has led to the development of rigid neural networks in the brain that somewhat determine our behavior in many situations and outlook towards things and events. In other words, patterns of thinking and habits have been created that prevent us from actually thinking and creating. Instead, we waste your precious time doing all kinds of other things – daydreaming, watching TV series and reality shows to name a few – that only strengthen such mindset.

The good news is that the human brain is flexible and such neural networks can be deconstructed. With each exposure to something new, there comes an opportunity to learn, change, grow, and ultimately get rid of habits and thought patterns. But we must be careful while doing it because dwelling into a new single ideology will again make us indoctrinated, habitual, and powerless.

So, here are few of the things I have started doing to unwire my brain:

• Exposing myself to new concepts and experiences while keeping and open and flexible mind. I stopped imposing ideas on others and I attempt to practice dialogue instead.
• Consuming information smartly, employing critical thinking and looking for alternative sources of information. I do my own research.
• Changing the way I am using the Internet and social media. I try to keep distractions to a minimum. I haven’t watched TV for 7 years.

I also intend to start meditation, which will help me deal with daydreaming and stay aware of what’s happening around me.

Unwiring our brains is not only how we claim our creative power back, but how we lay solid foundations for a shift in consciousness and a social change. Because life is ultimately about change and collectivism.

I really like this post. I have started to practice lucid dreaming to try and open my mind. I've been a slave to my phone for years and it is so hard to break free from it. Learning constantly is so important. Once you start to do listen and observe then life starts to feel more fulfilling.

I am glad that you like it and you are absolutely right. Have you had any success with lucid dreaming?
Btw, I am now following you - you have some awesome photos.

I have had success in Lucid dreaming. I am now in the processes of trying to do more with it. Thanks for the follow, I followed you as well. Have you tried lucid dreaming?

Hey @britleigh, I haven't tried intentionally to get into a state of lucid dreaming, but it has happened naturally several times over the years. It's kind of cool to be aware that you are dreaming and to have some control over what's happening :-)

really love your post :) it totally resonates with me ;) keep up the good work, enjoy your day and reconnect to nature :D

Thank you so much :) Glad it resonates with you! :)

Great post! I totally agree about the creativity part. All children start creative but as they go through school teachers tell them there's only one right answer and creativity is slowly lost. Meditation and open mindedness are great ways to increase creativity.

Hey @iansart, I am happy that you liked it :-) Have you tried practicing meditation?

Yes, I've tried a few types of meditation and they all help realise that we are infinity/ oneness the way you described

That's great :) I have started with vipassana
