THAT TIME WE WENT CRYSTAL HUNTING AND GOT THE CAR STUCK...steemCreated with Sketch.

Hello friends!

Would you like to hear my tale about a tiny little country town, fresh mountain air, crystals, and a borrowed and quickly stuck car?!

I really wanted to take my partner away for his Bday and we are both slightly obsessed with crystals...we got into a few crystal hunting shows and decided that "hey...we could totally do this too!" So we did some research and found a tiny little town in the Blue Mountains that was well known for finding sapphires...enough said...IM THERE!

We headed off on our 4 hr drive Thursday morning, stopping to swap my quite beat up vehicle with my dads oh so luxurious one to ensure we actually made it there and back!!

We drove through a little town for some lunch, arriving at the tourist centre to pick up our weapons (buckets, picks, shovels and pans) in the early afternoon. We drove straight out to the middle of this massive Pine Forest....I got so excited when I saw the sign for a "Fossicking" area that I proceeded to drive our car directly into a swamp of mud...had a little freak out and through sheer determination managed to coax it out onto solid ground!!

We hung around the area for two days, chilling with the echidnas and even a RED BELLY BLACK SNAKE!!!! ARRHH!

But the real question....did we find any crystals??!! Check out this picture of these beautiful little gems in my hand...a red couple of Red and Blue Sapphires made us a pair of very happy crystal hunters :)

Sweet find! Followed...where are the Blue Mountains?

About 3 hrs drive from Sydney Australia :) Thank you, followed back my friend!

Oh, hell... I'm in the Rockies. Guess I won't be driving my camper to the Blue Mountains! Thanks.

Welcome to the club if you're new to gem hunting! Pretty addicting isn't it? Is that in Montana? Montana is know for producing a lot of corundum aka sapphires. The blue one at the bottom has good color. Keep hunting! Followed, upvoted & re-steemed.

Hey! No I live in Australia but have watched videos about how amazing Montanna is for crystals! yes it is addicting, we are planning another trip soon! Followed too, thank you!

That's awesome, I didn't even realize that crystal hunting was a thing. Although it seems obvious now that I think about it.

right?! I actually did the same thing :) check out some videos on youtube they find so much and its addicting to watch!

This was a great trip @headlessjess When's the next one??
