Paris holiday - Day 2 (of 5) - Champs-Élysées and Eiffel tower

Hi Steemers,
Here I am with day 2 report from my holiday in Paris.
Checkout day 1 here: Paris holiday - Day 1 (of 5) - Louvre

Today we have been visiting Champs-Élysées amd the Eiffel tower.
The Champs-Élysées are a big street with a lot of famous brand stores (similar to Regent street or Oxford street in London). So, it is not really a big deal but it is worth a 30 minutes walk for 2 reasons:

  1. At the end of the street there is the Arc de Triomphe, a massive monument that honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on it. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I. You can see a picture below:

  2. You can have a lot of fun looking at people taking pictures next to Ferraris or queueing over 30 mins to get into Louis Vuitton store (the largest in the world).

After the Champs-Élysées we have walked in the direction of the Seine passing by the Pont de l'Alma tunnel where Lady Diana death after a fatal accident.

Then, crossing the river we found ourselves in the Champ de Mars, right in front of the Eiffel tower.

After a quick security check we joined from the south pillar to go up 665 stairs to the 2nd floor of the tower. We decided to go up by stairs both to enjoy the climbing and the view and because the queue for the stairs is definitely shorter. The price was 7€.
The climb is divided in 2 sectors, the first 323 stairs took us to the 1st floor...

Other 342 stairs took us up to the 2nd floor, where the view was definitely better...

But the best view is from the very top... We went there by lift (you cannot climb beyond the second floor), not before another 30 mins of queue to buy the ticket...

On the last floor, if you want, you can get a small glass of white/rosé champagne for a very high price of 13/17€

Thw way down has been pretty fast and it is free of charge (even whem you pay to go up by stairs you don't nees to pay to take the lift to go down).
We then moved to the Trocadero gardens (in front of the Eiffel tower but acress the river) to wait for the light up of the tower

Our night ended with a tasteful dinner that included, as suggested by @jmehta, very good SNAILS :)

lineup just to go shopping ? lol wow and it's not even black friday

Well, to be fair it is not even to go for shopping, people queue just to go inside and maybe post some pics on facebook, considering that I didn't see anybody coming out with bags in hand. Also, I believe that if somebody really wants to spend money in there, goes to the bouncer and says "I want to spend 4/500€ but I don't want to queue".

That's how it is. People just want to appear.
By the way I am following you now. Follow back if you are interested :)

Sooooo jealous, love Paris one of the most beautifull places I have ever been.
