UNplugged Radio: Episode 2: Reminisce about Prodigy of Mobb Deep and his Impact in Hip Hop.

in #life7 years ago

This was a special show guys. I invited a close friend of mine, my partner in "Rhyme", Classic joined us for this one! Together with my co-host Gem, we chopped it up about the recent passing of Prodigy of the legendary hip hop group Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep created that classic song "Shook Ones". So uhm look...I gave you a hint. If you don't know what these guys are about by now you've been under a rock.

Of course things got a little sloppy and we went outside of the subject for a while. But it had to be done. You see Prodigy was a special artist. One that embodied the greatness of that "true" hip hop feeling. And when you put three of the biggest hip hop heads in the world on the phone together...well lets just say it makes for a very interesting conversation. We work hard to get this out to you guys and we appreciate every listen that you give it. Thank you my fellow Steemets, yes I invented that. :)

Mobb deep were the greatest back then ,50 cent really brought these guys to hiphop mainstream ndustry...R.I.P Prodigy

You're right man. Even 50 Cent said in an interview...If there was no Mobb Deep, there would be no 50 Cent. This is a lesson that we should learn to start loving great people while they're alive. This whole thing we do where we seem to praise people most once they die just never sits right in my spirit. Thanks for listening and stay tuned for so much more.

That's why I keep rocking Method Man as the greatest and coolest rapper of all time.

The flow, the voice, the delivery and the steez. Fuck man...

Exactly jza. My thing is though....let's stop showing most of our appreciation for these artists...especially the ones that we love...while they're still alive. That's the thing that I was really disappointed in...even in myself..I was like dam man...I should have been listening to more Prodigy. I should have been telling people how great he is some more.

Hey guys, ever think about getting a better mic? Use the XBox USB Mic, it's golden for remote interviews, specially if they are friends of the show. Dude sounds like at the bottom of a well.

I know, he sucked the first show. I always tell these guys, they have to stop putting headphones and/or speakerphones on. That's what it is though, a phone conversation, so the sound isnt great. We'll get it together as we go along. I'll definitely take the advice.

Prodigy had alot of talent but was def. A product of his environment. Some people can't esculate further with their skill because they get sucked back into the reality of the streets. He was very open minded. Wrote multiple books speaking his mind even though not everybody respected his views. Prodigy was well respected for being real and outspoken.

Thanks for checking me out Yaya. I really hope you take some time and listen to the whole show. I mentioned that show to my co-host, we'll make it happen soon.

@geechidan YOU are Taking STEEMIT to the NEXT LEVEL. Because You are Promoting STEEMIT in a Place Where 1.25 Billion+ Population is Actively Looking for something creative and Of Course a Fertile land of TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION as well. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL !!!

eliran...Thanks a lot man for the support. Let me ask you this man...because obviously you appreciate good hip hop. who would like to see us talk about? What would you like to hear us talk about in regards to hip hop?

Actually I would love to read an article about "Hip Hop Evolution - Then and Now" focusing on the rappers like Ice Cube, 2PAC, Biggie, Bone Thugs etc compared to hip hop artists these days such as Tyga, Rae Sremmurd, Amine etc...
Also I would really appreciate if you could follow my post tomorrow, i'm working on a mini introduction vlog for a new project I want to start - it is about spreading and promoting Steem in countries that has a really low average sallary. it will be meaningful I promise..

Followed. And I will be looking out for that from you. Thanks for the input. I'll pass that unto Gem, my co-host and we'll try to make some shows that the people want to see.

Great read brother. Continue loading up information like this and you will reach your goal in no time. Soon it will be your music that's in the spotlight and others will be blogging about you. Stay focus Geechi Dan.

Appreciate it Slick. Man theres no stopping from here.

Mobb deep put hardcore hip hip on the map back in the day. They moved the goalposts imo. There's this story about how when Kanye was making MBDTF he put a sign on the studio door that said "What would Mobb Deep do?" cause he wanted the artists he was working with to capture their intensity.

Thats awesome. I never knew that about the Kanye story. Thanks for listening man. Hey let me ask you this..what would you like to hear us talk about in regards to hip hop in our future shows?

Maybe you guys could talk about the role of producers in hip hop now? Like how they started out more behind the scenes to where someone like metro boomin / DJ Mustard can now be stars in their own right

Was very shocked to hear of Prodigy's passing, it feels like it wasn't that long ago that my studio friends and I spent months working with Mobb Deep in the late 90s. The authenticity of that era of hiphop was clearly represented by them, only overshadowed by Prodigy's personal character to those who got to know him even on the slightest level.

What??? Aww man...Thats amazing You definitely need to follow the show. I would love to eventually invite you on the show to talk about that experience. Prodigy was a legend man. I kept saying after he passed...I was like "Man, this is big...Prodigy dieing....this is big man...this is a big deal"...It wasnt just any rapper, ya know....

I'd have to dig down and try to remember details but I do have funny memories of behind the scenes studio life. A friend who I met on the job there became their main engineer at that time while I tried to wrap my head around how to do my job.

lol. I got you. Reach out to him man..would love to hear what he has to say in regards to that legendary group, especially Prodigy.
