You have to have fun! If it's not fun...then what are you doing?
The word we often use is "Hobby" right? Pretty much anything can be a hobby I don't care if you're talking about Golf, Knitting, building muscle cars, photography or making videos for YouTube like I do.
You get to pursue something that you enjoy and maybe even have a passion for and in most cases we're talking about something that's not your full time job, it's not your living income. It's something you do for fun and for the love of it. It makes you feel good, it gives you a rush and puts a smile on your face and sometimes gives you a sense of accomplishment!
Lets be honest though, in a lot of cases we may not be all that GOOD at our hobby. We may find ourselves being compared to professionals that do make their living off of that thing we consider a hobby. Sometimes those comparisons can be harsh and might demotivate us.
Sometimes, we can be the ones being the most harsh on ourselves in making those comparisons.
Oh by the way...are you still having fun?
Or did you get caught up in the comparisons? Did you succumb to negativity and let it knock you down a peg? Remember when we started this conversation we were talking about having FUN. right? If you did let that happen then I am here to remind you of the reasons why you started pursuing that hobby. It was for the enjoyment, the experience and the occasional sense of accomplishment when you did have fun doing it.
Case in point, I made a video where I went WAY out on a limb and attempted acting and tried to film a mock scene for a popular TV show. Guess what? I sucked. I did a horrible British accent and I looked like a penguin with his ass on fire and I watched it back and was horrified and embarrassed at how stupid I looked.
Then someone commented on the video and told me that it was awesome, that it was funny and that I had made them smile.
And I remembered right then and there, that it's supposed to be about having fun. This is the video if you're interested :)
