Ruta por Villamalur, un pueblo del interior de Castellón /Route through Villamalur, a village in the interior of Castellón

Buenos días Steemit. Aquí vengo de nuevo para que conozcáis una ruta que ayer hice junto con mi hermana @mabegon y su novio. 

Good morning, Steemit. Here I come again to meet a route that yesterday I did along with my sister @mabegon and her boyfriend.

Mi hermana y mi cuñado son dos personas enamoradas tanto del deporte como de la naturaleza. Y claro, a mí que me encanta también, nunca digo que no a acompañarlos (en la medida de lo posible) a alguna ruta que suelen organizar cuando se encuentran por esta tierra. 

My sister and brother-in-law are two people in love with both sport and nature. And of course, I love it too, I never say no to accompany them (as far as possible) to a route they usually organize when they find themselves on this land.

En este caso, la ruta fue en Villamalur, un pueblecito de Catellón interior, a una hora y poco de donde resido. 

In this case, the route was in Villamalur, a small village of interior of Castellón, at an hour and little of where I resided.

Salimos bastante pronto de casa ya que, al ser ya casi invierno, el sol nos deja pronto y no queríamos que se oscureciera antes de acabar la ruta de unos 12 km aproximadamente.

We left pretty soon from home because, as it was almost winter, the sun left us soon and we didn't want it to get dark before the route was over approximately 12 km.

Una vez llegados a Villamalur, nos preparamos bien y comimos algo para empezar la ruta con energía. Como podréis observar, la furgoneta que tiene mi cuñado permite tener todo lo necesario para cualquier imprevisto.

Once arrived at Villamalur, we prepared well and ate something to start the route with energy. As you can see, the van that has my brother-in-law allows to have everything necessary for any unforeseen.

Lógicamente, a parte de ir bien preparados para cualquier tipo de temporal que hubiera, teníamos con nosotros un maravilloso gps con la ruta para poder seguir el track que habíamos guardado. 

Logically, as part of going well prepared for any kind of temporary that there was, we had with us a wonderful GPs with the route to be able to follow the track that we had saved.

Y la cosa empezó bastante empinada pero por suerte, el tiempo acompañaba y no hacía mucho calor. El sol estaba bastante ausente lo que permitió que nuestra ruta no se hiciera más pesada de lo normal. 

And the thing started pretty steep but luckily, the weather was with it and it wasn't too hot. The sun was quite absent which allowed our route not to get heavier than normal.

Mi hermana me comentó que, durante la ruta, nos desviaríamos a ver tres cosas principales de la zona: el castillo de Villamalur, las trincheras y una nevera (depósito de nieve).

My sister told me that, during the route, we will stray off to see three main things in the area: the Castle of Villamalur, the trenches and a refrigerator (snow tank).

Así que, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, nos encontramos con el cartel que nos indicaba nuestro primer objetivo: el castillo. 

So, in the twinkling of an eye, we find the sign that indicated our first objective: the castle.

La subida fue bastante accesible y, en poco tiempo, pudimos llegar al castillo y admirar las maravillosas vistas que nos ofrecía el lugar. 

The ascent was quite accessible and, in a short time, we were able to get to the castle and admire the wonderful views that the place offered us.

Y aquí me tenéis a mí descansando mientras admiro la belleza que ofrece la naturaleza. 

And here you have me resting while I admire the beauty that nature offers.

Una vez que recorrimos el castillo, puesto que los restos están repartidos a lo largo de la cima de la montaña, proseguimos con nuestro camino en dirección a las "Trincheras". 

Once we toured the castle, since the remains are scattered along the top of the mountain, we continue our way towards the "trenches".

Al cabo de un rato, nos encontramos con el cartel de las trincheras. Como podéis observar, estaba bastante nublado pero no tenía pinta de llover. Así que, sin dudarlo, cogimos el camino para conocer las trincheras.

After a while, we found the poster of the trenches. As you can see, it was quite overcast but it did not look like rain. So, without hesitation, we took the path to know the trenches.

El camino, aunque empinado también, fue bastante cómodo y no estaban muy lejos de nuestro camino principal. Por el camino, nos encontramos con varias mochilas pertenecientes, al parecer, de cazadores de la zona. Actividad que no comparto mucho, la verdad. 

The road, though steep also, was quite comfortable and they were not very far from our main road. Along the way, we find several backpacks belonging, apparently, hunters in the area. Activity that I do not share much, the truth.

Y por fin, llegamos a las famosas trincheras. 

And finally, we got to the famous trenches.

Por lo que he podido leer, estas trincheras son pertenecientes a la Guerra Civil Española y han sido restauradas recientemente. Su construcción fue dirigida por  por Manuel Matallana Gómez, que ocupó la jefatura de Estado Mayor del Grupo de Ejércitos de la Región Central. 

From what I have been able to read, these trenches are from the Spanish Civil War and have been recently restored. Its construction was directed by Manuel Matallana Gómez, who held the chief of Staff of the Army Group of the Central region.

Como dato interesante, debo añadir que mi cuñado nos comentó que su tío abuelo fue uno de los que peleó en estas trincheras y que, desgraciadamente, murió en combate en ese mismo lugar.  Cosas como éstas te recuerdan lo  que muchas familias tuvieron que padecer a lo largo de guerras como ésta y que, ojalá, no se repitan. 

As an interesting fact, I must add that my brother-in-law told us that his uncle grandfather was one of those who fought in these trenches and, unfortunately, died in combat in the same place. Things like these remind you of what many families had to suffer throughout wars like this and, hopefully, do not repeat themselves.

Una vez acabada la visita a las trincheras, cogimos de nuevo el camino que nos dirigiría a la ruta principal. De vuelta, nos encontramos con otro grupo más amplio de senderistas de mediana edad que se dirigían hacia lo que nosotros ya habíamos visto. No obstante y aunque está todo bastante bien señalizado, nos dio la impresión que se desviaron por donde no era. 

Once we finished the visit to the trenches, we took again the path that would lead us to the main route. Back, we met another broad group of middle-aged walkers who were heading towards what we had already seen. However and although it is all quite well signposted, it gave us the impression that they were diverted by where it was not.

Llegados a este punto, mi querida hermana comentó que era momento de hacer la primera parada para coger fuerzas. Lógicamente, mi cuñado y yo no pusimos pega alguna y buscamos un lugar para sentarnos y comernos lo que tan cariñosamente había preparado: torreznos. Comida Típica de Sigüenza (Guadalajara)

At this point, my dear sister commented that it was time to make the first stop to take strength. Logically, my brother-in-law and I did not put any glue and we looked for a place to sit and eat what he had so affectionately prepared: bacon.Typical food from Sigüenza (Guadalajara)

Una vez con fuerzas de nuevo, nos dirigimos a lo que sería nuestro último desvío: la nevera. 

Once with strength again, we headed to what would be our last detour: the fridge. (snow tank)

Tardamos un poco más en encontrarla que los dos anteriores puntos pero mereció la pena. Tuvimos que desviarnos por un sendero que, sin duda, ofrecía unas vistas impresionantes. 

It took a little longer to find it than the previous two points but it was well worth it. We had to swerve through a path that certainly offered breathtaking views.

Y, por fin, llegamos a la famosa nevera de Villamalur. 

"La Nevera Cuatro Caminos es un depósito de nieve ubicado en la vertiente noreste de la zona conocida como Mas de Taire, en la provincia de Castellón, España. Está catalogada como Bien de Relevancia Local, con la categoría de Espacio etnológico de interés local."

And finally, we got to the famous Villamalur fridge. 

"The four-way fridge is a snow deposit located on the northeast side of the area known as Mas de Taire, in the province of Castellón, Spain. "It is classified as local relevance, with the category of ethnological space of local interest."

Aquí os muestro algunas de las fotos que hice de la nevera. 

Here I show you some of the photos I made of the fridge.

"La nevera es un depósito de planta circular con un diámetro exterior de 11 metros de lado. Se encuentra prácticamente sumergido en el terreno, presentando tan solo en la parte suroeste un pequeño sector exento, que se hace de mayor altura en la zona noreste.

"The fridge is a circular plant tank with an outside diameter of 11 meters." It is practically submerged in the area, presenting only in the southwestern part a small exempt sector, which is made of higher altitude in the northeast.

Los muros, de fábrica de mampostería, con mampuestos labrados a una sola cara, de piedra caliza y mortero, utilizando para la construcción de los mismos la técnica de relleno de tapial (el tapial es el encofrado propio de la tapiería, que a su vez es la fábrica elaborada in situ, sobre todo para levantar muros, consistente en uno o varios materiales adecuados que se vierten y compactan ordenadamente en el interior de un encofrado)

The walls, masonry factory, with masonry carved with a single face, limestone and mortar, using for the construction of the same the filling technique of tapial (the tapial is the formwork of the Tapiería, which in turn is the factory made in situ , especially for lifting walls, consisting of one or several suitable materials that are poured and compacted neatly inside a formwork.

Interiormente su diámetro es de 9,6 metros y la profundidad a la que llega es de 10,60 metros, lo cual permite un almacenamiento de unos 800 metros cúbicos de nieve."

Inside its diameter is 9.6 meters and the depth reached is 10.60 meters, which allows storage of about 800 cubic meters of snow. "

La verdad es que nuestros antepasados creaban cosas como ésta y casi no puedo imaginarme cómo lo hacían. Tan sólo me recuerda que, hoy en día, la sociedad está muy mal acostumbrada a conseguir todo sin casi mover un dedo y que somos  la sociedad de la información y las nuevas tecnologías pero que, en realidad, no tenemos idea de nada que pueda tener ni la décima parte del valor que esta nevera pudiera tener en su día. 

The truth is that our ancestors created things like this and I can hardly imagine how they did it. It just reminds me that today, society is very poorly accustomed to getting everything without almost moving a finger and that we are the information society and new technologies but that, in reality, we have no idea of anything that can have a tenth of the value that this fridge could have in its day.

Una vez acabada la visita a nuestro último objetivo, nos dirigimos de nuevo hacia el camino de regreso al pueblo. No obstante, como volvimos a encontrarnos con el grupo de senderistas antes mencionado, decidimos hacer una pequeña parada para dejar que adelantaran su camino y no juntarnos. 

Once the visit to our last goal was finished, we headed back to the road back to the village. However, as we returned to meet the group of walkers mentioned above, we decided to make a small stop to let them advance their way and not get together.

Un merecido descanso que, sinceramente, necesitaba porque notaba como la planta de mi pie derecho echaba humo ya.

A well-deserved break that I honestly needed because I noticed how the plant on my right foot was fuming.

Después de volver a caminar en dirección a lo que sería nuestro final de ruta, nos paramos en un merendero cerca del pueblo a comer. Ya era hora de degustar mi famosa tortilla de patatas que no falta en ninguna de nuestras rutas. Así que, sin más preámbulos, llegamos y nos hicimos con ella. 

After walking back in the direction of what would be our end of route, we stop at a picnic area near the village to eat. It was time to taste my famous potato omelette that is not missing on any of our routes. So, without further ado, we arrived and we made out with it.

Bocadillo de tortilla de patatas con ajoaceite. Os aseguro que nos supo a gloria.

Por cierto, en este merendero encontramos carteles donde pudimos informarnos de rutas alternativas tanto caminando como en bici. Os dejo las imágenes con la información. 

By the way, at this picnic we find posters where we could inform ourselves of alternative routes both walking and by bike. I leave the images with the information.

No obstante, no me gustaría acabar sin comentar que ya llegando al pueblo, en la entrada justamente, Ernesto se encontró con una almendra con su cáscara y eso desencadenó a una actividad inesperada que nos llevó como una hora más: recogida de almendras de varios almendros abandonados. 

However, I would not like to end without commenting that already reaching the town, at the entrance precisely, Ernesto found an almond with his shell and that triggered an unexpected activity that led to an hour more: collection of almonds of several almonds abandoned.

Llegamos a cada con mas de tres quilos de almendras y con mi espíritu renovado ya que, por muy agotada que llegara a casa, todo mereció la pena, incluso la cara de pánico que puso mi hermana cuando me vio subida en las ramas del almendro para alcanzar las que estaban más lejanas. 

We arrived at each with more than three kilos of almonds and with my spirit renewed as, however exhausted she came home, it was all worth it, even the panic face that my sister put on me when she saw me rise in the branches of the almond tree to reach those that were farthest away.
