Reseña rápida del videojuego indie: Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! + Sorteo

Esta será una reseña especial porque no solo hablaré de un videojuego divertido sino que también haré una rifa, si, rifaré un videojuego de Steam. Es una forma de agradecer su apoyo ya que sin él no podría comprar más indies para hablar de ellos.

Las reglas del sorteo al final de este artículo, así que empecemos la reseña.

Los videojuegos de simulación tienen un público bien definido y algo reducido, no es uno de los géneros que gusten más y por ende, venda más. Para que un videojuego de simulación tenga éxito en el mercado debe ofrecer algo novedoso, divertido y original. En esta definición entra Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!.

La eterna pregunta es; ¿dónde se hacen las armas que los héroes necesitan?, la respuesta llega en Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!, somos una papa que ha heredado la herrería de su abuelo, así que en vez de buscar grandes aventuras haremos las armas que usarán otros aventureros.

Ya va, ¿papas (patatas)?. Así como lees, el mundo donde se encuentra la herrería es un mundo de papas, lleno de aventureros papas que necesitan de armas potentes.

Para satisfacer la demanda nos ponemos manos a la obra para producir dichas armas, para ello debemos contratar a otras papas (cada uno con nombres graciosos) especializadas para que trabajen en la herrería.

Estos empleados-papas tienen algunas características importantes que hay que estudiar con cuidado porque cada arma tiene 4 variables de las cuales una es principal del arma. Mientras más alto sea este valor(res) mayor será su valor de venta.

Para ayudarnos en nuestra labor podremos mejorar nuestra tienda, las máquinas de trabajo, entrenar a nuestros empleados-papas, cuidar de un perro-papa, investigar nuevas armas y explorar mundos para buscar reliquias perdidas. Mucho por hacer pero…

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! tiene un modo de juego lineal, quiere decir que no haremos mucho frente a la PC y cuando lo lleguemos a terminar no querremos empezar de nuevo. Menos mal que podremos seguir la partida justo donde lo dejamos cuando terminamos el videojuego.

Los gráficos son 2D texturizados con colores pasteles muy alegres, la animación está bien cuidado aunque no hay mucho que animar. El humor reinante es gracioso aunque algo infantil. Pero lo que realmente importa de un videojuego de simulación es la dificultad y en HP!AWS?! es moderada siempre y cuando estés pendiente.

La banda sonora está compuesta por Kimura Masahiko, quien está detrás de las series de videojuegos de Genso Suikoden y Castlevania; por eso, la banda sonora resulta agradable con el pasar de las horas ni siquiera llega a molestar.

Los controles son sencillos, tan solo usaremos el ratón para controlar a los empleados-papas, cambiarlo de máquinas, enviarlos a explorar, vender o descansar se hará con el ratón. Por ende, la jugabilidad es todo lo que puede ofrecer un videojuego de simulación; pero lo que importa es que hay papas y todo lo que lleve papas es bueno.

Conclusión

Para mí es difícil recomendar un videojuego de simulación, conozco pocas personas que les gusté el género, algo extraño porque los simuladores tuvieron en boom en los años 80, hoy están algo olvidados (yo casi no los juego), pero con Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! me atreveré a recomendarlo, tiene un encanto y diversión que no había visto en otros videojuegos que hacen querer jugarlo, por lo menos una vez. ¿Se imaginan jugar The Sims pero con papas?, Yo sí.

La gente de Daylight Studios son los que desarrollaron el videojuego en el 2015 con algunos DLC, pero este año sacaron Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! el cual me llama mucho la atención.

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! está a la venta en Steam a un precio de 14.99$ o te lo puedes ganar en el sorteo ;-)

Indie video game review: Holy Potatoes! The Weapon Shop ?! + DRAW

This will be a special review because I will not only talk about a funny video game but I will also make a raffle, yes, I will play a Steam video game. It is a way to thank their support because without him could not buy more indies to talk about them.

The draw rules at the end of this article, so let's start the review.

Simulation video games have a well defined and somewhat reduced public, is not one of the genres that they like more and therefore sell more. For a simulation video game to be successful in the market must offer something novel, fun and original. Holy Potatoes! The Weapon Shop?!.

The eternal question, where do the weapons that the heroes need to be made ?, the answer comes in Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop ?, we are a pope who has inherited his grandfather's smithy, so instead of looking for great adventures we will make the weapons that other adventurers will use.

Already, potatoes? As you read, the world where blacksmithing is found is a world of potatoes, full of adventurous potatoes who need powerful weapons.

In order to satisfy the demand we put to work to produce these weapons, for that we must hire other potatoes (each with funny names) specialized to work in the smithy.

These potato employees have some important characteristics that need to be studied carefully because each weapon has 4 variables of which one is the main weapon. The higher this value (res) the greater its sales value.

To help us in our work we can improve our shop, work machines, train our staff-potatoes, take care of a potato dog, investigate new weapons and explore worlds to search for lost relics. A lot to do but ...

Holy Potatoes! The Weapon Shop ?! Has a linear gameplay, it means that we will not do much in front of the PC and when we finish it we will not want to start again. Luckily we can continue the game right where we left when we finished the game.

The graphics are 2D textured with pastel colors very cheerful, the animation is well taken care of although there is not much to cheer. Reigning humor is funny though somewhat childish. But what really matters about a video game simulation is the difficulty and in HP! AWS ?! Is moderate as long as you are pending.

The soundtrack is composed by Kimura Masahiko, who is behind the video games series of Gok Suikoden and Castlevania; For that reason, the soundtrack is pleasant with the passage of the hours does not even get to bother.

The controls are simple, we will only use the mouse to control the employees-potatoes, change of machines, send them to explore, sell or rest will be done with the mouse. Therefore, the gameplay is all that a video game simulation can offer; But what matters is that there are potatoes and everything that carries potatoes is good.

Conclusion

It is difficult for me to recommend a simulation game, I know few people who liked the genre, something strange because the simulators had a boom in the 80's, today they are somewhat forgotten (I almost do not play them), but with Holy Potatoes! The Weapon Shop ?! I dare to recommend it, it has a charm and fun that I had not seen in other video games that make you want to play it, at least once. Can you imagine playing The Sims but with potatoes? I do.

The people of Daylight Studios are those who developed the video game in 2015 with some DLC, but this year they got Holy Potatoes! We're in Space ?! Which strikes me very much.
