The real DOGE "Much Photo"
The Doge were the dukes of Venice from 697-1797. Venice was one of the most wealthy cities during the renaissance because they were the main port for trade between Europe and Asia. Venice was a republic and it's government was similar to that of the United States with three bodies of government. Executive and head of state was the Doge who was elected and served the remainder of his life. Legislative was the Senate. And the third was the Judicial or courts. Enjoy these photos I took at the Doge's Palace.
The inner courtyard of the palace
Looking down the grand staircase
A painting in the room of four doors
A fireplace in the waiting area to see the council
This is where the Doge and council would meet heads of state
The same clock on the opposite walls in the Senate chamber
The courtroom. There were 5 crimes that had a death penalty. Attempts to overthrow the republic, murder, crimes against children, hearsay, and polluting the waters.
A clock in the lawyer's chambers for the 6 hours they were to work
This is the chamber of the Great Council. It is the largest room in Europe without any internal columns to support the roof
The ceiling of the chamber of the Great Council
The Place where the Doge and council would sit. the reason there are so many faces on the painting is because during those times painters were paid per face not by the size of the canvas
Here is the staircase where ambassadors would come to Venice. On the left is Mars on the right Neptune in the center the winged lion of St. Mark
21 million people visit Venice each year "Much Coin"
