Mexico 1 - 0 Germany!!! | Experience the game like I did in Moscow
We all wanted to believe there was a chance for it to happen but realistically speaking, we knew that beating the world champion was a long shot. Not only because Germany is currently one of the strongest - if not the strongest team out there - and not only because Mexico has a long history of losing against the Teutons, but also because only one year ago, Mexico lost against the German B team with a score of 4 -1 in the confederations cup, and this time we were facing the A team.
Jokes were made about the possible Mexican victory and how everyone would change their lives and stop drinking, stop smoking, stop having an affair etc etc. They were jokes because we literally thought we would have to beat Korea and Sweden to be able to go through the group stage to the knockout stage.
It´s not like we are quitters or we think less of ourselves or our national team. We were just realistic fans. You want to win and you´ll do your best, but sometimes you are just outgunned. Well, we beat the odds and against every bet, we won.
Mexico beat the world champion and we are actually looking at a 1st group place, meaning we won´t have to face Brazil in the 1st knockout game, which was something we wanted to avoid.
It´s very early in the tournament to state this but I´m going to go ahead and take a leap of faith: After yesterday´s result, we can start dreaming of reaching the very expected and never reached - out of Mexico -, fifth game, the one that only the best 8 are allowed to play.
Well... check out how Mexicans watch a game in a Russian Fan Fest. You don´t see a lot of mexicans there because most are watching it inside the stadium. Yes, crazy mexicans spend tons of money in stadium tickets and well, after yesterday´s result, I believe paying 1k US was worthy for all those who went to the Stadium to watch Mexico accomplish what may be the biggest upset of the world cup.

Mexico 1 - 0 Alemania!!!
what a jubilant crowd in front of that giant TV, it's like these people seems so inspired so joyful, the songs and you leading them is amazing Eric, sometimes we need team spirit ahead of even quality you know, the Mexicans pulled off a giant stride, and the celebration was massive
Thank you for bring another video my friend, you made me feel the world cup fever around me, quality video too.
I'm sure you're having the maddest fun, yes?
I didn't get to watch the match. I was happy for you (i came to your blog yesterday to see if you have written something about it) and then I love an underdog story. Since the Super Eagles failed to fly, I will be rooting for Mexico, all the way now.
I will read the post now...haha.
I don't really know why...but I rate Mexico highly in my mind. I have watched the team played some great matches. Your teams I know don't always have exceptionally standout players but they are hard workers.
I think they are still more upset in this world. The Underdogs are doing quite well...
I believe Mexico will break the fifth game jinx this time.
Well, well, what can we say Eric....only 'Viva Mexico!". This is the true nature of football: expect the unexpected. Got all my predictions for Day 4 wrong, but hey there wouldn't be too much excitement if everything went the way it should have gone. Don't celebrate too hard yet, but enjoy this mini fiesta you're having! :D
Saludos!...
@anomadsoul, After long time I've seen most un-expected won from Mexico Football team. Absolutely brilliant celebration every Mexicans. Why I told that? Germans is currently world champion from the Soccer world. Lot of times German players try to get goals. But fantastic job done by Mexico goal keeper. He didn't gave opportunity inside goal track through his hand. Great work Mexican...Keep our eyes them. Wishing to them will win championship. You need to be proud Eric.
Yup! I was in total and utter shock! I'm an expat living in Mexico and the jubilation here caused a small earthquake to register! LOL!!
I enjoyed watching that yesterday, great game, great first half goal.
Mexico were awesome - inspirational, and a well deserved victory. I'm glad they managed to 'hang on in there' for the second half.
England tonight!
I hope England plays good, you never know!
The game had every Mexican holding their breath for the last 20 minutes, especiales after last cup game against Netherlands where the same scenario happened, 1-0 and late in the game they tie it and we lose in extra time. Those ghosts man.
'You never know'.
That just about sums it up.
Had that been England yesterday, Germany would've got an 88th minute equalizer, and then probably a second in extra time.
It's 1000% more pleasurable watching other nations play.
Or with hindsight I should say
Quite! You never fucking know!
At least not until the 92nd minute.
That was entertaining in an entirely different way. Painful for the most part TBH, but promising none the less.
This was so unexpected and of course there was a lot of celebrating involved after the game :P
It's gonna be another late night, or rather early morning for me. And I'm not even a football fan normally
Me neither, but I'm still out tonight to watch the game! And eat and drink, of course.
This was the match we used to console ourselves after Nigeria's match. Congratulations for winning.
@anomadsoul, will you kindly take a look at steemcamp blog ? Your support to us as we promote steem will be highly appreciated
That is definitely the biggest upset so far, even bigger than Iceland. Great job Mexico! Can't wait to see what you share with when you're actually AT the game.
I'm attending only two games, tickets are expensive as hell but yeah, definitely will share a lot about those games :D
