La Bestia Simétrica

Jonas comenzó a revisar apresuradamente cada uno de los reportes que habían obtenido tras cada ataque a la bestia, se dio cuenta finalmente del patrón que tanto había esperado, ese mismo patrón que le permitiría conocer mejor su enemigo y quizá entender algún factor de sus posibles debilidades, todo lo que pueda obtener era valido e importante para la posible neutralización de la bestia. Lin y Frederick se quedaron en silencio, conocían a Jonas desde hace unos cuantos años, y a pesar de ser una persona un poco reservada, ya sabían reconocer sus gestos, sus acciones y su forma de actuar ante determinadas ocasiones, ambos sabían muy bien que Jonas había encontrado algo, ese algo que le daría un giro al próximo y quizá último ataque.

Al ver los papeles, Jonas recordó aquel sueño que tuvo, fue en ese momento que se dio cuenta que había tenido en mente el patrón todo este tiempo, solo que no había podido internalizarlo, comprenderlo y utilizarlo a su favor. En el sueño, él representaba cada una de las víctimas de la bestia, que en su caso, no salía de un laberinto, sino del techo de su habitación. La bestia se iba acercando lenta pero firmemente al rostro de Jonas, pero no lo ataca, no se lo comía, sencillamente no le hacía absolutamente nada más que aterrorizarlo con su presencia.

Y solo hasta que Jonas se veía reflejado en el espejo que tenía en su habitación, la bestia procedía a atacarlo, a devorarlo sin ninguna compasión. Su mismo subconsciente le estaba dando la respuesta a lo que tanto había buscado, el sueño represento perfectamente el modo de operación de la bestia y las condiciones que debía tener para llevar a cabo su sanguinario plan. Resulta que en todos los ataques que había perpetuado la bestia, el número de víctimas siempre fue el mismo en ambos lados del laberinto, y eso no podía considerarse solo una coincidencia.

En pocos párrafos, Jonas había encontrado que cada tentáculo de la bestia había terminado con la vida de mismo número de personas, y que el tan solo hecho de devorarlas, hacia que los tentáculos se adentraran mucho más en el templo. Lo interesante de todo el escenario es la condición de simetría. Ningún tentáculo podía devorar mayor cantidad de seres vivos que el otro, debían estar a la par, y eso explicaba precisamente el hecho de que en varios ataques la bestia logro inmovilizar a varios de sus oponentes, pero solo mato a alguno de ellos, dejando a otra porción totalmente libre. Lo que antes había pensando que se trataba de un hecho al azar, tenía una razón mucho más fundamental.

– “Hay un patrón, bastante extraño, jamás en mi vida logre ver uno parecido, pero esta allí, no es casualidad y no podemos simplemente obviarlo. La bestia de ahora en adelante, es la Bestia Simétrica. Observen cada uno de los reportes que se han hecho hasta ahora, cada tentáculo ataca a un número igual de personas en cada operación, ni más ni menos. No puede permitirse que un tentáculo este en desventaja que otro, no sé porque, pero sé que no lo hace por alguna razón, y es allí donde yace su debilidad”, dijo Jonas mientras le mostraba los reportes a Lin, Frederick ay a los agentes que le habían prestado colaboración esa noche.

– “Entonces no fue un descuido de la bestia la razón de que aquellos agentes alfas escaparan de sus tentáculos. Es una prohibición para la bestia, y no importa lo que tenga que hacer, siempre debe cumplirla. Esto es más útil de lo que creemos”, dijo Lin mientras leía las cifras.

– “No es muy difícil elucidar hacia dónde vamos. Contra la simetría, le daremos asimetría. El problema es que necesariamente debemos sacrificar a alguno de los agentes para que la bestia finalmente se quede quieta, pero así como puede ser uno, pueden ser varios más…” Dijo Frederick mientras soltaba las hojas sobre la mesa.

– “Lamentablemente no habíamos realidad la infiltración e los agentes especiales, de haber tenido un traidor en la comunidad, ya tendríamos el candidato perfecto para ser sacrificado en este método de ataque”, Dijo Frederick.

Los agentes permanecieron callados un buen tiempo, se dedicaron a observar la conversación que tenían los líderes y los planes que estaban formando para el futuro próximo, hasta que uno de ellos intervino:

– “Considero que se debe estimar el tiempo de asimetría de la bestia”, dijo uno de los agentes especiales.

– “¿Tiempo de Asimetría?”, preguntó Jonas.

– “Así es, con saber esta debilidad de la bestia no es suficiente. Se necesita saber cuánto tiempo puede durar la bestia sin compensar las muertes de ambos tentáculos. De no saber este tiempo, enviaríamos 50 agentes por un lado y 10 por el otro. La bestia naturalmente terminaría tragándose a los 10, y al atacar los otros 50 se tragaría a los otros 10 compensando las muertes en ambos tentáculos. Pero luego de un tiempo se comería a los 40 restantes, esperando la compensación por el otro lado. Ya a este punto se habría comido a suficientes personas como para alcanzar a cada miembro que se encuentre en el templo. Sería la perdición de toda la comunidad, el posible inicio de una etapa de destrucción en la tierra”, dijo el agente especial.

La discusión se avivo como la llama cuando es rociada con combustible, incluso de podían escuchar sus voces fuera del salón. Se quedaron largas horas planeando el próximo paso.

In the dream, he represented each of the victims of the beast, which in his case did not come out of a maze, but from the ceiling of his room. The beast slowly but firmly approached Jonas' face, but it did not attack him, it did not eat him, it simply did absolutely nothing but terrify him with its presence.

And only until Jonas saw himself reflected in the mirror in his room, the beast proceeded to attack him, to devour him without any compassion. His own subconscious was giving him the answer to what he had sought so much, the dream perfectly represented the mode of operation of the beast and the conditions he had to have to carry out his bloody plan. It turns out that in all the attacks that the beast had perpetuated, the number of victims was always the same on both sides of the labyrinth, and that could not be considered just a coincidence.

In a few paragraphs, Jonas had found that each tentacle of the beast had ended the lives of an equal number of people, and that the mere act of devouring them made the tentacles enter the temple much deeper. The interesting thing about the whole scenario is the condition of symmetry. No tentacle could devour more living beings than the other, they must be at par, and that explained precisely the fact that in several attacks the beast managed to immobilize several of its opponents, but only killed some of them, leaving another portion completely free. What I had previously thought was a random event had a much more fundamental reason.

– "There is a pattern, quite strange, never in my life I managed to see one like it, but it is there, it is no coincidence and we cannot simply ignore it. The beast from now on is the Symmetrical Beast. Look at each of the reports that have been made so far, each tentacle attacks an equal number of people in each operation, no more and no less. One tentacle cannot be allowed to be at a disadvantage than another, I don't know why, but I know it doesn't for some reason, and that's where its weakness lies", Jonas said as he showed the reports to Lin, Frederick ay to the agents who had lent him collaboration that night.

– "So it wasn't an oversight of the beast that those alpha agents escaped their tentacles. It's a ban on the beast, and no matter what it has to do, it must always abide by it. This is more useful than we think", said Lin as she read the figures.

– "It's not too hard to figure out where we're going. Against symmetry, we will give it asymmetry. The problem is that we must necessarily sacrifice some of the agents so that the beast finally remains still, but as one can be, there can be several more...". said Frederick as he dropped the leaves on the table.

– "Unfortunately, if we had had a traitor in the community, we would already have the perfect candidate to be sacrificed in this method of attack", Frederick said.

The agents remained silent for a long time, observing the conversation the leaders were having and the plans they were forming for the near future, until one of them intervened:

– "I believe that the time of asymmetry of the beast should be estimated", said one of the special agents.

– "Time of Asymmetry?", Jonas asked.

– "That's right, knowing this weakness of the beast is not enough. You need to know how long the beast can last without compensating for the deaths of both tentacles. If we did not know this time, we would send 50 agents on one side and 10 on the other. The beast would naturally end up swallowing the 10, and attacking the other 50 would swallow the other 10 compensating for the deaths in both tentacles. But after a while the remaining 40 would be eaten, waiting for compensation on the other side. At this point enough people would have been eaten to reach every member in the temple. It would be the perdition of the whole community, the possible beginning of a stage of destruction on earth," said the special agent.

The discussion ignited like the flame when it was sprayed with fuel, even if they could hear their voices outside the room. They stayed long hours planning the next step.
