Syria today from the horse's mouth.
Every story has two sides. Assad's story deserves to be heard.

Assad belongs to a small Muslim sect calls Alawites. The Alawites are actually an elite minority that controls Syria, which most of its population is Sunni. If Assad will loose this civil war, the Sunni majority in Syria will kill not only him and his family but the entire Sunni population. So Assa has nothing to loose, and it is totally unrealistic to expect that he will step down by choice and go to exile or anything like that.

Having written a lot about Syria, I am very interested in your comment.
As to his 'ethnicity', you are absolutely right. The country is run along secular protocols and so there are a lot of people who want to have a Muslim State. The Israelis just want to see every Syrian dead. Iran and Russia are the allies who hold out for these guys.
He has already stated that, for the security and safety of his people, that he would step down. He was then voted back in on an enormous majority. The Syrian people love him. The world accuses him of endless crimes against humanity. The US has already invaded, illegally. Hilary Clinton announced the US attack an hour before it happened.
I am interested why you think he will be killed by any Syrian. It seems at odds with the information I have gleaned.
