What Expressions of Sustainable Living Do You See in This Picture?

First off, this is not my yard.
And whatever you might or might not see in this picture, everything you see is legal in California.
What do you see that are part of a sustainable lifestyle?
What do you see that is not?

I see grass!!! And not THAT grass... the worthless "lawn" variety that sucks water, needs mowed and no one eats. I would find a nice aromatic "stepable" for that spot!
It does look like they are hanging things to dry, brownie points for that!

Oh, the green you see is actually weeds - mostly purselane. they are going to put a native grass meadow in that spot once the rains hit.
And you actually would be correct if you said that you saw "that" grass LOL. There are at least 3 plants in that picture.
Yes on hanging the laundry - but what about what is hanging there?
And I think the massive rainwater tanks are impressive 🤪

Oh! Well now... purslane is delicious! And the other grass is useful, I have no problem with that! I guess the rest is over my head... it just looks like yellow towels on the line to me, and I thought the water tank was a bar-b-q lol!

hahaha. I have those yellow towels as well thinking I was doing a good thing for the environment since they hold on to dirt and you can clean without chemicals and even soap. They are made from microfiber. Then, I learned that with every wash, they release tiny particles of plastic into the environment and I am getting rid of them. It is so hard to do the right thing!

Oh, gotcha! Do you remember "The Graduate?" They use Hollywood to condition us to all sorts of evil nonsense.

Did you know they can melt the plastic down in something akin to a rocket mass heater, recapture virtually ALL the volatiles and turn it back into fuel? Even if YOU don't know, THEY know... but no one is building those recycling centers. Inducing guilt in the populace is more important to them than fixing problems.

I have zero voting power in this account :(
That was a great clip. Yes, I know that the recycling is invented and there is even a way that you can build your own machine (if you have that kind of DIY brain). So many things are invented which could solve all of our problems - well, many of them. But they are not in line with the "money interests" and are buried in drawers somewhere...

Familiar with Paul Stametz? The fungus alone could save us all on so many levels... lol!

Yes! I met him at one of the Permaculture voices Conferences :)
