Ernest Hemingway as author and Sapardi Djoko Damonos as an interpreter.

The two big names on the front cover of this book made me interested in reaching out, grabbing the book off the shelf, flipping through the pages randomly and then taking it to mejakasir. These two big names make me not only want to know the story of the Old Man and the Sea but also want to learn how they tell.

For a novel, this book is not thick, just 102 pages. But the story of an old seaman in the Gulf of Mexico who was written in 1951 ago has something to deserve Pulitzer Prize for Fiction award two years later (1953) also the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.

'Something called power to influence the reader. The struggle of the old man facing the ferocity of the sea alone can be analogous to the hardness of the dream in life. The passion and passion of the main character make the reader engrossed in passion and feel ashamed to surrender.

Novelini tells of an old fisherman named Santiago who even 84 days can not catch a fish. People think he is'alao ', the most unlucky among the bad luck. Therefore a boy who used to accompany him to sea was forbidden his parents to go back to sea with him. But Santiago believes that 85 is his lucky number.

So on the 85th day, when the sky was still dark, sailed alone to the deeper ocean in the belief that he would catch big fish, bigger than the other fishermen caught.

From pages 17 to 96, readers are brought along to the ocean, tasting salty sea water slapping boats, hearing the hiss of stiff wings of a group of flying fish that rush from the water into the air, guessing the movement of the fish in the dark water, groups of dolphins, turtles, jellyfish as well as birds of warning in the sky.

In fact, the luck he believes does not come easily. It takes a fierce fight with the sun that appears drowned, for days. When he had got his fortune, a flock of sharks chased him violently, not once, counting up to five times! He must survive to stay alive at sea, eat raw fish for power, save water not as fast as his bottle, treat his injured hand and try to rest while his surroundings threaten his life.

And the question is, will people search for it or even nobody notices that it is lost at sea? Then will he make it to the land of bringing home the great fish of pride or lost by the sharks of the predator?

Find out for yourself yes friends ... No cool if endingnya dibocorin here ^ ^ More cool if we read a little biography written in the introduction to this book.
