Charles Cullen : The Angel Of DEATH

in #story6 years ago

This man takes the cake when it comes to murder by his own hands.

The most prolific serial killer in the United States, Charles Cullen was a nurse in the medical industry intended to help people. This story was interesting and I decided I want to talk about this case because it gives me chills. When we think of serial killers we think of some crazy looking guy with a knife or gun, breaking into homes and killing/kidnapping people. This isn't always the case and certainly wasn't the case for Charles Cullen. He was a sheep in wolves clothing. There are only 30, or so, confirmed deaths by Cullen but he definitely was said to have killed over 400 people in unsolved cases or slow policing. Either way you want to put it.... He was a very sick and violent man.

Why?

Some people say he was raped by his father, but its unlikely because his father died when he was 7 years old. The boy grew up with depression and had few friends. He spent a lot of time alone and was bullied often. As a boy he spent a lot of time reading and his family was mostly in poverty. A catholic family with a handful of children. His mother died sometime when he was in high school which caused him to dropout. He spent time in the military and was deemed strange, caught stealing, and didn't get along with his comrades. His attempted suicide on a few separate occasions had him finally discharged. He decided to study nursing and during his career , it was much like his past. He was fired from many different jobs. He seemed to have problems getting along with his colleagues. He seemed to have a problem with people.

How?

He tried to choose graveyard shifts in intensive care units. He did this for a very calculating reason. He was left alone and away from many colleagues AND he was around patients who were mostly asleep or couldn't call for help. It is plausible for people in intensive care to die, he was in close proximity with the drugs he could inject to kill, and he could move with ease. After killing many people he was caught searching the hospital records when he shouldn't have, visiting patients rooms that he wasn't registered to, and doing a number of shady shit. The man was secretly injecting people with drugs similar to heroin until the died mysteriously to others. He STILL wasn't caught, in fact he continued to kill even after this fact. This is easily a person with a lack of compassion and thirst to kill. He found himself in deep water many times but was never actually singled out as being the reason these patients were mysteriously dying.

He was arrest in 2003 and started admitting to the crimes. He told the police he killed them so they wouldn't suffer anymore. He claimed he was in a black out and couldn't recall all the murders, which explains why there was a low murder count for this one. As I said, he was said to have killed over 400 people. Luckily the authorities FINALLY caught up to him. I dont know who to blame, the bad hospital coordination not catching on to patients dying left and right, the police not being able to track him down for whatever reason, or just him being too clever.

I found this case amusing and definitely wanted to share. It was a pretty crazy idea that you could get into a car wreck and end up in ICU where some asshole like this is in charge of you. Glad they caught him.
