RE: If Time Could Forget Us - To Tell a Tale #9 - Short Story Contest Entry

in #story7 years ago

I have a daughter. She's not home right now. The first thing I'm going to do when I see her is hug her.

Counting the seconds.

Thanks for writing this.

Thank you for the extremely kind words and for reading!

Isn't that subjective time-dilation when it comes to kids just the worst?

When you miss them, seconds drag by like running in a dream.

When you're with them, watching them seemingly get older every tick of the clock, you'd think you'd just accidentally pressed the fast-forward button on your own life.

Although, the slowdown also works in other ways too...like when they're younger, and they're refusing to just go to sleep (JUST GO TO SLEEP!!! WHY ARE YOU POURING JUICE INTO YOUR SOCK DRAWER!?!?) so you can use the bathroom, for once, in your own house, in peace...

And when there are more than one...

"Why are you pouring juice, through your sock, onto your sister?"

But wouldn't trade one second of it.
