Stocks have broken significant market structure and are looking like they are starting to reverse trend. This may take weeks and months to develop, but it is clear that stocks have needed to make a significant correction for some time.

Can I predict the exact bottom for stocks?

No.

This reversal could turn around anywhere.

But charting simple trend lines , support and resistance , we can easily see what is most likely going to occur.

The Dow has a long term trend line that it will be approaching soon. I don't believe this will be enough to change the market back into an upswing, but it might slow the bleeding for a few weeks time.

My first target for a bottom in stocks is at 18,000 for the Dow. The next target is 14,000 and worst case scenario lies at 10,000.

Any of these outcomes may occur. It all depends on how bad sentiment gets around the US economy.

We won't be able to tell what the bottom is when we see it, but it will be simple to identify a change in trend for stocks and we'll have to settle with that to pick our entry.

The best way to apply this information is to find highly valuable companies and wait out the storm with your cash pile.

Once stocks are near their lows, start acquiring those companies for the long haul.
