It’s also known as Adam's needle & thread which is a species of flowering plant in the family of Asparagaceae. It’s native to the southeastern United States. It is a low-maintenance plant, tolerates a variety of soil types and climates, provides year-round interest with its distinctive foliage and seasonal blooms. Additionally, Yucca filamentosa has been traditionally used for various purposes, including medicinal remedies & even as a food source. The roots were used to treat gonorrhea & rheumatism. Some skin diseases were treated by rubbing the roots on the skin & by taking a decoction of the roots, also the plant was used as a sedative to induce sleep. An infusion of the plant was used to treat diabetes.
It’s an evergreen shrub valued in horticulture.
