TenaxHemp Phormium SnakePlant 🎋

The beautiful flowering plant that’s also called flax in New Zealand hemp which is an evergreen perennial plant in the family of Asphodelaceae. They're one of my favourite plant fibres to work with. It’s native to New Zealand & Norfolk Island. It's a popular choice for gardens due to its bold foliage and various colors and patterns, providing a unique textural element. Additionally, it plays a role in environmental sustainability by acting as a natural air purifier and supporting local ecosystems through its nectar production for birds & insects. Various preparations of the leaves allowed the material to be used both as a hardy flat thick-woven material (as in kete & mats) also as a fibrous twine, used for creating both rope and finely woven cloaks.
