It’s one of the hardiest bamboos with dark green culms & evergreen foliage in the family of Bisset's Bamboo Grasses. It’s native to China. It can also be planted as a hedge & can easily be clipped to whatever height you need it to grow. Its thickly growing foliage & densely clustered canes are almost entirely windproof, thereby making a perfect screening or hedging plant for which it is widely used. It is also well placed in the forest garden, and can even be grown ornamentally in containers.
It’s known to be the fastest growing plant on earth. Some species of bamboo can grow more than 1 meter per day, which is about 4 cm per hour. No other plant grows faster.
