Imagining the 10 dimensions
All our understanding of reality goes through an experience of representation, in one way or another: there are mathematics, language, even thought before the word, but reality - that elusive that shapes us and what we are part of - he does not allow himself to be reduced by any of his representations. But it's still fun to try.
Superstring theory, M theory, bosonic string theory and all those explanations about the universe are nothing if we do not start from the simple. Kandinsky said that the work of art begins with a point, so we will try to illustrate the 10 dimensions of superstring theory starting with simple notions and then putting psychedelic gifs on the most complex parts. (If you are a scientific eminence and feel offended by our poor understanding of the complexities of the universe, we invite you to share your infinite knowledge in the comments).
First dimension: length
The first dimension is the X axis, a straight line with no other characteristic.
Second dimension: altitude
The altitude or Y axis can be attached to the X axis to produce a two-dimensional object, such as a triangle or a square.
Third dimension: depth
The depth, or Z axis, is added to the two previous dimensions to form objects with volume, such as a cube, a cone, a sphere or a pyramid. This is the end of physically perceptible dimensions for humans, and from here all dimensions are theoretical.
Fourth dimension: time
The fourth dimension is the position in time of a three-dimensional object.
Fifth dimension: possible worlds
The fifth dimension is a world slightly different from ours, from which we could evaluate similarities and differences (utopia, for example).
Sixth dimension: plane of all possible worlds with the same initial conditions
The sixth dimension is the plane that contains all possible universes with the same initial conditions as ours; for example, the Big Bang.
Seventh dimension: a plane of all possible worlds with different initial conditions
The seventh dimension is an expansion of the possibilities of the sixth, where all possible worlds begin with different initial conditions.
Eighth dimension: a plane of all possible worlds, each one with different initial conditions, each one evolving infinitely
Here we begin to make use of psychedelic graphics, but the eighth dimension could also be exemplified as a tree of infinite branches whose leaves are different from each other, have different origins and create, in turn, each one, different trees.
Ninth dimension: all possible worlds, beginning with all possible initial conditions and physical laws
In each of these dimensions, which represent all possible initial conditions, the laws of physics are completely different from those we know.
Tenth dimension: infinite possibilities
In this dimension everything is possible. They are the dreams of God, they are the demands of adolescents, it is the reality of the absence of desire, where politicians are honest, trains always arrive on time and Schrödinger's cat is alive and dead, because everything exists and does not exist. the time
