Have you ever imagined how life would be without telephone? Today l want us to focus more on the invention of a telephone and in our next series we will talk about cellphones.Growing up l had a priviledge of having a telephone at home.I remember when l was at a boarding school in grade 6 the joys that l would have if l’m being called for a phone call.l would receive calls from home every week and those were my joyful momemts.l’m sure life was going to be difficult in terms of communication

WHO INVENTED THE TELEPHONE

Alexander Graham Bell a Scottish born American scientist is best known as the inventor of a telephone.He was born in 1847 and died in 1922.He was teacher for the deaf during his years of wanting to invent a telephone that would transmit sound by electricity.They is something that puzzled me about Alexander,though he is credited for the telephone invention he refused to have a telephone in his study,fearing that it would distract him from his scientific work.This shows how focused and determined he was.Telephones are good but at the same time they shift our focus and we might end up not achieving our goals.

A telephone is quick and easy to use
It is less expensive
Distance doesn’t matter
Allows to way dialogue between people
DISADVANTAGES OF A TELEPHONE
Waste a lot of time especially for teenagers
Some use telephones for criminal activities
Might get physically damaged with time
You might miss a call

Alexander Graham bell thought he was onto something ,but no one wanted his new invention .l like one of Alexander quotes were he says,’When one door closes,but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us’.Most of us think that Alexander inventions changed the course of history but success for him wasn’t smooth .Alexander encountered a lot of failures in his career but it did not stop him from exploring new ideas.Bell changed the communication world in a better way,at some point he tried to sell his patent to Western Union company president but he scoffed the idea and thought of the telephone as a toy.One of the major problem he encountered was people not believing in him,his mother and sister were deaf and this helped him in his invention .His invention caused a huge controversy some people viewed him as a mad scientist challenging the laws of nature.Some argued that telephone were of the devil and were against the bible.This reminds me of my grandmother she used to hate people spending time on the phone and shew would say it’s the devil who made that to destruct us and not focus on life important things.There was rumours also that telephone would spread diseases and even insanity over the telephone wires.Bell faced and won over 600 lawsuits challenging his telephone patent.His first business use of the phone began in 1877 and by 1888 there were over 150,000 users in North America.The cost of installing a telephone was $10 which was equivalent to a whole year salary of a slave.Thomas Edison said,”my late friend Alexander Graham Bell ,whose world famed invention annihilated time and space,and brought the human family in closer touch”

In Conclusion
We so grateful for what Alexander did to us his work would not go unnoticed,his contribution to the world was enormous.It gtakes patience and hardwork to accomplish our goals.Despite his loss of a father,2 brothers and his mother and sister were deaf those were huge problem he had.lf it was me l would see myself as a failure already with my blood.This is a huge motivation to all of us,nothing can stop us from conquering the world.
