STEEMIT-EDUCATION OF ECOLOGY #9 [HABITAT RAJUNGAN (Portunus pelagicus) ]
hallo steemian, on monday 19 february 2018, I was walking the road enjoying a holiday on a beach close to the city I live, the beach is quiet and not crowded with visitors making the silence deeper, already 2 hours me and my friend ,, walking on the edge beach when arriving at the pile of stones on the beach, we see the beauty of marine animals habitat rajungan(Portunus pelagicus) .....
The Indonesian state is known as a maritime country where its marine territory covers three quarters of Indonesia or 5.8 million km2 with coastline of 81,000 km, while its land area is only 1.9 million km2. The vast ocean territory contains abundant fisheries resources, one of which is crabs. Crabs that exist in Indo Pacific waters more than 234 species and most of the 124 species exist in Indonesian waters. Crab types are popular as food and have a fairly expensive price is Scylla serrat and other types that are not less important in the market is the Portunus pelagicus commonly called rajungan (Portunus pelagicus).

Habitat rajungan is on sandy beaches, muddy sand and on the rocky island, also swimming from near sea level (about 1 m) to a depth of 65 meters. Rajungan living in the estuary area then migrate to higher-margin waters to incubate their eggs, and after reaching the young crabs will return to the estuary.
Rajungan spent much of his life by burrowing himself in the sand and only showing his eyes to wait for fish and other invertebrates trying to get close to being attacked or devoured. rajungan marriages occur in the summer, and it appears that the males attach themselves to the females then spend some marriage time by swimming. As with its relatives, the mangrove crab, in the nature of small crab foods are also small fish, small shrimp, invertebrate animals, detritus and are carnivorous animals. Rajungan is also quite responsive to formula feeding / pellet feeding. While still a larval stadia, these animals are plankton eaters, both phyto and zooplakton.
