FEELING OF DIZZINESS WHEN TRYING TO STAND UP

Today I will be sharing my short discovery on the reason we feel dizzy when about standing up after being at rest (sitting, lying down and sleeping) for a long period of time

I know for sure that so many of us have experienced this and wonder the cause.
Here’s the reason:
The cause of this woozy feeling is due to the level of blood pressure.
If your blood pressure reduces temporarily, it requires some time for your vessel to clamp down before it gets the blood to the brain 🧠 (this is a common phenomenon with an uncommon name orthostatic hypotension ) and this causes the dizzy feeling for a short period of time.
But if this dizziness happens frequently then you should probably visit a doctor to check your blood pressure while sitting , lying down and sleeping .
This is to make sure that the blood pressure is not consistently lower when standing than when lying down.

For me, I experience this dizzy feeling when I wake up and try to stand up immediately.
When we sleep at night, our blood pressure becomes really low and this is the cause of dizziness when we try to stand up immediately.

And again, dizziness can strike after eating a meal, because digestion diverts blood flow which could lower the blood pressure.
Practical ways to control this dizziness
Take enough water:
Dehydration also triggers this dizzy feeling because blood is mostly water and if the volume reduces overnight it lowers blood pressure.
It is best you take water in the morning when you wake instead of taking a lot of water at night which makes one visit the bathroom, and in turn reduce the level of water in the body.

Check Medication: some medications can lower our blood pressure. if you experience this dizzy feeling, check whatever drugs you are taking and report to your doctor if he could prescribe an alternative drug or even advise to stop it if not needed.

Take your time to stand up slowly when you wake up in the morning
Especially for those that experience this feeling often, you can sit up for like a minute before you stand up fully so you don’t end up on the floor.

Don’t stay in a sitting or lying position for a long time
Try to exercise , it helps your muscles
Especially when you wake ; it helps the blood to get to the brain faster .

Lastly, you can change your eating habit, eat little but more frequent instead of having a full meal.

Please don’t ignore this feeling of dizziness if it persist to the point you actually fall when you try standing,visit your doctor.
