INTRODUCTION OF MY SCIENTIFIC WORLD: INFERTILITY

This could be defined as a situation whereby a woman unable to get pregnant or the inability of a man to put a woman in a family way (impregnate) as a result of one problem orthe other.

This problem has scattered so many union, it has created suspicion between families who were so lovely and offered their children for marriage. Some married couples who were very sweet during marriage and after having theirfirst child have turned enemies, simply that no second child has come many years after the first one. Quarrels, hatred, gossip and doubt loom in the faces of the concerned families.

Trust has been buried, love has become old news and faith has lost its virtues. Who is to be blamed?

Some culture blames it on the sins or atrocities that must have been committed by the period or his or her family against the gods of their land (ancestors) for which they were cursed.

In some society, they believe such a problem has to do with spirituality. When a woman is unable to be pregnant, they believe such a woman is married to a husband inside the river. Sometimes men are said to have sacrificed their sex organ for money rituals.

Women are always apportioned with blames as the course of childlessness in marriages but research has proved this very wrong as men seem to be more responsible for this as they are mostly exposed to dangerous sexually transmitted diseases like syphilis, gonorrhea, etc.

Infertility could be divided into two: Primary and Secondary Infertility. Primary infertility is a situation whereby couples after many years of marriage expect pregnancy but does not come. Secondary infertility is a situation whereby couples get married and had Dregnancy once before it becomes difficult for them to be pregnant again.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF INFERTILITY?
So many factors are responsible for the infertility in men and women in our society.These causes shall be addressed one after the other.

INFERTILITY IN MEN (CAUSES)

1. Absence of Testicles
   Gynecologist or Doctors call this abnormality or diseases "CONGENITAL". There are some cases when a male child is born, the testicle will not be inside the See. it is In the testicle sperms are produced. and it is the Sperm that fertilizes the ovum that brings about pregnancy. So when these testicles are absent or any of them is absent from it‘s scrotal sac. if immediate action is not taken by taking such a child to Doctor or nearby hospital for correction, and such a child grows up to puberty stage. he will never produce sperm and will never be able to impregnate any woman even when the woman is so fertile So the advice is for parents to immediately a male child is born to them. should check the scrotal sac whether the testes are present and complete. if not such a condition should be reported to the Doctor, or at nearby hospital.

2. Variocoele
   There is a situation where the left testicle of a man becomes far lower than the right one as ought to; if properly observed, it will look a collection of worms in a bag. it's no worm rather a disease called syphilis. This disease could affect the testicle and make them swollen thereby becomes impossible for the man to impregnate a woman. This is another causes of infertility in men.

3. Heat
   God purposely created the testicles and placed them at a spacious place where they can be receiving some air. The sperm does not like heat because heat reduces the level of sperm production; even high temperature, fever can affect the level of sperm production. This causes infertility in men. So it is therefore advisable that men should preferably at night wear wrappers or night wears like the pyjamas to allow for air on their testicles. This freedom makes the testicles to do their work effectively.

4. Blockage of the Urinary Track
   So many people face this problem of blockage in their urinary track which happens as a result of poor, or improper treatment of Gonorrhea. The blockage of this urinary track also hinders the passage of sperm since urine and sperm uses the same track thereby causing inability to fertilize a woman. So, it is advisable to see a qualified doctor in this circumstance for treatment and also when the disease Gonorrhea is suspected to have been contaminated.

5. Accidental Injuries
   If a man gets accident that involves injuries or a serious hit around the penis area that could damage or injure pathway for sperm, infertility may result. On the notice of this, please, consult your Doctor.

6. Infections
   Some people when told they have contaminated Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD). They don't feel bugged rather they starts to drink concoctions, moving from one native Doctor/herbalist, to another thereafter compounding such sickness. Infections such as Gonorrhea and Syphilis for example are simple to treat if handled by a qualified Doctor but could be very dangerous to life, if played on with a quack doctor or chemist. The problem is that this Gonorrhea. Syphilis or any other veneral disease could damage the source of sperm making it impossible for the man to produce sperm to fertilize the ovule ofafertile woman.

7. Torsion of Testicle
   This terminology simply means a condition when the blood vessels which supplies blood to the testicle twist round one another thereby causing a stoppage or obstruction in passage of blood to the testicle. This is a very serious condition and any of this case should immediately be taken to the hospital for the Doctor's attention for such a patient would need an operation as drugs may not be able to rectify such condition.

CAUSES OF INFERTILITY IN WOMEN

1. Womb
   There are situations when the womb is not properly positioned inside the woman; this could hinder the passage of sperm into the womb and subsequently into the Fallopian tube for fertilization to take place on the woman's released egg. See a Doctor immediately fer treatment if noticed.

2. When Menses is irregular
   A situation where menstruation occurs and disappear unceremoniously only to reappear when not expected could hinder pregnancy and childlessness.

3. Lack of Ovulation
   In some women, menstrual cycle can occur without the woman's eggs released; where this does occurs, there would not be woman eggs for the male sperm to fertilize. This will need to be corrected before pregnancy can take place in such a woman. See a Doctor immediately.

4. Closed Vaginal
   Where a woman is born without her vaginal opening, such a woman may encounter a condition of infertility, such a woman must immediately see a Gynecologist or a Doctor.

5. Infections
   Gonorrhea is one infection when stayed too long in a woman could block her fallopian tube. This could cause infertility in such woman. A decent woman who cares over her body would go for a High Vaginal Swab (HVS) every month to see if she is free from any vaginal disease; couples who are patience of cancer or long standing diabetes mellitus could experience infertility.

6. Anxiety
   Some couples may find it difficult to get pregnant where they live in atmosphere of fear. Fear of whether they would be able to get pregnant and bear children. This fear must be eliminated out of mind.
