No more WRC's longest stage in Mexico
Hi, Steemers!
After WRC dropped Safari from calendar about 15 years ago, stages longer then 100km became past. Rarely we can see some 50km stages but longer then that it's impossible. It's hard for organisers because of safety and it takes time to bring medical crews on place of accident (possible only with chopper; but what if the accident is in wood?!) on some part of mountain with rough gravel road on that long stages.
Now the famous 50-mile Guanajuato stage has dropped from Rally Mexico. That was the longest stage in calendar for years. Sebastien Ogier needed more than 48 minutes to complete it and it's not easy to drive it with full concentration on some gravel wilderness.
It is too bad that the race is off. It would be the one of the most exciting races in the calendar.
well, it's only that stage that is not run anymore. Mexico rally is in march. should be cool also without it. :)
